There are a few tools you can use for fitting blades - I personally use a file or India stone typically. It depends on what type of dressing the blade needs. Bottom line is that you don't need power tools of any kind - you are only removing a small amount of material.

All the interesting comments about left hand threads, all my years of engineering have also taught me to look and listen to other people 'in the know' and remember. The photos and descriptions above make me even more inclined to not touch what I don't know enough about, and carry on working hard and pay someone else for their expertise.

Reviving this thread because I just purchased the perfect tool for the job, after trying unsuccessfully with several small screwdrivers that were close, but not quite right.

I did some research online and found that both my Speedmaster and Seamaster bracelets use the same size screws, and they're actually 1.8mm, which explains why the OP had issues with a 1.4mm driver. A little more googling found a couple of recommended tool manufacturers, and I found that one of them was available from Amazon.

Less than ten bucks and a couple of days later, and I now have the correct tool for the job - and let me tell you, it makes the world of difference when you have a tool that fits as precisely as this one does. The fit is so snug that the screw lifts out still attached to the blade, and you actually have to pull it off (with minimal effort). Makes reinsertion so much easier too, because you can pop the screw on the blade before introducing it to the bracelet - no more juggling to get or keep the screw the right way up while also trying to align the driver to the slot.

Highly recommended. Treat yourself!

Cheers,
Jon

"If it sticks, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacing anyway!" Yeah, I had a dad like that. 😀

Hi Guys! At the risk of a double-hijacking, I’m having a similar problem with an old Omega Dynamic bracelet. It has screws instead of pins. Would any of you know what size those screws might be so that I can buy the proper driver to get them out? I have four of these bracelets and now I’m suspicious that three have pins and one has screws. The one with screws is 1153/138 and strangely one without has the same reference number. Uh oh?
