A Very Special New Arrival . . .

Good day all. For your viewing pleasure, here we have a pretty rare bird that just arrived this morning. A 1953 steel cased Seamaster reference 2657 jumbo with a two tone hobnail dial, dauphine hands, rose gold dial furniture, drilled lugs, caliber 342 and, most surprisingly -- a crosshair subseconds dial which I have not seen on a hobnail dial before. I believe it to be fully original with the possible exception of the crystal and crown. Note also the small triangular radium filled markers at 2, 4, 8, 10 and 12. This one won't be leaving my collection for a very, very long time. For the moment I have it on a brown leather strap from Artisan with quick release spring bars. I'm open to suggestions for the perfect strap to suit this very special watch. Many thanks and much credit to my friend, OF member extraordinaire and all around great guy MtV -- who was one of the prior owners of this beauty -- for helping me to locate and acquire it.

Really nice catch ! Congrats !

I will stick to a brown leather strap with some texture, non padded and a full boxed stitch tone on tone or a slightly different tone of brown stitching.

Wow! So much character, but somehow subtle at the same time. Love it.

Another Beauty! It must be getting difficult to decide which to wear each morning.

Obligatory Dibs.

Not really. I’ve just followed Mad Dog’s example, shown below, and wear four at a time. 😁

@gbesq This is phenomenal! Wolf whistles, and not that you are going to ever part with it, but DIBS!

Glad to see it arrived safely and that you like it Greg 😀 Enjoy! I find those triangular lume plots really lovely and I did like the dial a lot, it's just that, somehow, the proportions of the 34mm SMs of that period speak more to me, hence the decision to let it go. It's in good hands though, I can tell!

That is very very nice indeed. As a suggestion, I wonder what a strap like the one IrishCanadian was showing would be a good option. I think the form and colour of this strap is close to what I would want myself.

That is a beautiful watch, but I came here to see another new foal. Anyhow, congratulations on adding a wonderful new piece to your already great collection!

Thanks to all for the very kind comments. For those of you who were expecting a foal instead of a watch, my daughter tells me that her farm will have a new equine arrival in June - which I will be sure to post! In the meantime, remember this little guy?

Well, here is baby Drogon now:
