Is the Scafandro one of the watches that has exactly the same bezel as the Longines Skindiver ? As I missed out back in 2016 I never got deeply into the search for a suitable bezel.

Yes, same compressor case and bezel.

Holy crap 😲

I was a pretty serious bidder on this watch back in 2016 and thought I might have a second bite at the cherry today. Another bezel-less one which actually wasn’t quite as nice with wrong crown and hands probably redone. Well I was quite wrong ! @MMMD time to retire ?...

Yikes😲

Here it is again 😀

Every time I see yours I wish I’d bid just a little harder. Do you remember if you were near your limit or whether you’d a lot left in the tank ?

I remember really wanting it, and I don't remember it being close at the end, so I think there was some dry powder left in the horn.

Helps ease the pain a little 👍

It’s actually one of the very few watches that I ever bid highly on (let’s say up to fair market value). And I remember it turned out much better in real life than in the GW pics and that it was running contrary to the description, so really congratulations.

Is that bezel the same size as the Longines or the smaller size ?

I was following with the one on Toovey's too but then for that price... I couldn't pay that much even before the premium....

Thats really an amazing result!
Another example (with replace bezel but original bracelet) was sold two years ago at Phillips for 22k US: https://www.phillips.com/detail/LONGINES/HK080117/826

The fact that many of you here on OF were interested in it or trying to bid shows that it is a highly collectible watch.
This year two Longines steel chronos were sold at auction for more than 100.- k (one for 250.-k). This means that the very few real rare Longines pieces have reached a price level that can be compared with Rolex.

Concerning the 6921: this is the the first diver made by Longines and it is very different to all other early divers (even some early Seamster 300 (https://www.phillips.com/detail/OMEGA/CH080118/123) or Breitling Super Ocean, https://www.phillips.com/detail/BREITLING/CH080117/94, have reached an incredible prices today).

The Longines 6921 has a perfect size and 40mm are rare for a vintage
The Longines 6921has a rare and unique dial, black galvanized with attractive hourglass and most important with "Explorer" type Radium numbers on dial.
The Longines 6921 has unusual and unique hands
The 6921 has an attractive back.
It was made in very small numbers. It is estimated that only around 300 examples have been made in 1959 within 3 series.
I personally did not see more than 15 - 20 examples showing up during the last 15 years (many of them in bad condition).

So may be (and compared to a 1959 Explorer Type Submariner. https://www.phillips.com/detail/ROLEX/NY080117/33) it was still a "bargain" 😗 or at least worth this amount of money?

Aesthetically, I think I prefer it without the bezel. However, the bezel seems to bring it more seriousness. It has aged nicely.

A friend once taught me to avoid dive watches with a diver drawn on the back but if this were the right size and the right price for me—which it isn’t— I would consider making an exception. 😜

I’ve been trying to convince Longines to make a 36mmp green colored reedition and they were very reluctant— but now that their marketing teams agreed to a green legend diver reedition maybe this could happen ?

98 times out of a 100 this is a great rule. 2 times it isn’t

Good thinking, thanks for pointing it out. 👍

I wonder who came up with the idea of those divers with harpoon drawings.
