I don't know. From what I've been told, the dial looks original.

As you can see in the close up, the Exclamation Point on the dial has almost faded away.

Seriously bro, that's a nice enough dial, a lil fading wouldnt kill the dial.

I blame it on the autoconnect.

You meant chapter ring? Only early gilt pre 1964 have them I think. Rolex switched to matte white dials in 1966.

Any comments about the staining between the 5 and 6 on the chapter ring?

No, the metal ( white gold? ) surround on the markers

I think I know what u r referring to. It's not metal but just white marker showing because the lume shrink if u look closely. They r common in those era. Below is pic from the web that shows clearly the surround of a naked dial. White gold surround was introduced in the 80's.

Don't think those markers have surrounds - just very symmetrical shrinking of the lume...

I mean, REALLY simmetrical!

Yep - I did a double take when I first looked at this watch as well. 😀

Line from an 80's song by Jane Siberry...

"You can't chop down the symmetry"

It is not a symetrical shrink, just the luminous materials was applied this way on the white paint (not recovering all the white painted dot).
