The grey dial one is pretty sharp and the thickness is (relatively) impressive. But I'm not a fan of the two counter layout, makes reading elapsed time and the date tedious. Interesting, but this one won't be a candidate for me.

These are more expensive than an Ed White 321 or Snoopy 50th at current market prices, both of which are sharper editions, imo. Glad to see Omega coming out with new stuff, but this one won't set the normal Speedmaster community's heart aflutter, but that's not the target audience.

The black one is my pick as well. I really love the look of the moon-face. The double function of each subdials is a good use of real estate. I don't know how practical it'll be but at least it's different. I like it.

However, price is too high and it's definitely too big for my wrist so it's an easy pass for me.

$17K, wow, I'll stick with vintage. Modern ( new ) are just so expensive.

Yeah, I'm looking for a 3576.80 moonphase right now. I didn't mind retail on the White pro and FOIS, but the last few releases are just too high for me.

That's my one and only Speedmaster model, and I continue to enjoy it after 8 years even more than when I first got it. When I saw the teaser for a moonphase, I was hoping this would be a successor to the 3576. This new release has some cool aspects to it, but it doesn't hit the mark for me – and especially at this price. And as someone else posted on this thread, I too would rather have the Zenith Triple Calendar (I prefer the white dial with black subdials even over the Hodinkee LE).

Omega made various moon/date models over the years with black, silver and creme dials, so several variations to choose from, all had the upgraded finished cal 1866. I was hoping Omega was going to incorporate the moon/date function into the 3861 with a meteorite dial, but no dice.

I can’t be the only one, but these meteorite dials just don’t do it for me

I really like the silver dial one. I’d happily wear it.

But that kind of money is 15 mortgage payments for me. For that kind of money I’d prefer the Blue Side of the Moon, the moonphase Speedy with the aventurine dial.

Omega continues to innovate. This new watch is recognizable as an Omega and a Speedmaster, yet it's still something new. We can practically hear the conversations that took place, with the designers pleading with management, "yes the Speedmaster is a great line, but we can do so much more!"

"Manual-winding chronograph with OMEGA column wheel and Co-Axial escapement. Certified Master Chronometer, approved by METAS, resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 Gauss. Silicon balance-spring, 2 barrels mounted in series... Moonphase indication at 6 o’clock. Special finish with rhodium-plated bridges, red varnished engravings, and Geneva waves in arabesque."

"We'll even make it thinner. And how about a meterorite dial with 18k white gold indexes. Even better, actual pieces of the moon from lunar meterorite stone!"

It's a nice watch and I'm glad they made it, but like most comments, it's not for me. If I wanted to spend 17k on a watch, I could possibly justify it with this build. But it's a stretch.

The big miss is the moon phase. It's too big for the dial and while two moons is an interesting design concept (considering NASA wants to explore the southern pole), it's borderline gimmicky, in spite of how nice the moons are.

The bracelet has a nice taper and it'd be hard to choose between the grey/blue and black. I'd love to see it in the flesh but It doesn't make me want to spend frivolous dollars like the sedna or moonshine gold speedmasters do, even at half their cost with more technology.

Its a fantastic watch! I'm really glad they kept it thin, and I'm even gladder that there seems to be some folks who want one. I'm also glad they kept it very 'speedmaster' looking, .

That said, it does absolutely NOTHING for me. Even before looking at the price, I was still thinking "I'd rather have a normal Speedy Pro".

I'm not impressed, I don't see what is the point of this release at this price, it is just a chronoscope iteration with an added moonphase complication and meteorite dial at almost double the price !!! I fail to understand Omega recent pricing strategy the same goes for the release of no date diver at a higher price tag than the date version !!? Since when a watch with less complication is priced higher than its sibling.

Anyhow Rolex pricing is looking more & more justifiable compared to Omega espically when factoring value retention in the scondary market. Gone are the days when Omega used to be a good value for your money, I'm afraid that with the current downturn in watch market, Omega will shoot it self in the foot.

At 17k? no. At microbrand prices, they're fabulous.

Rolex pricing would be decent if you could actually get one whenever you wanted. I'd gladly pay msrp for a steel Daytona, but not in cash up front and wait for years. Not even "whenever", just a reasonable amount of time.

I have good relation with my AD but I can understand the frustration. I'm even waiting for my Panda, which might be by the end of this year. However, wehter we like it or not, the scarcity is what helps retaining its value and is part of the appeal. Never the less, even at MSRP Rolex pricing is high and is getting prices year on year.
Going back to Omega, their latest pricing does not sit well with me, the last Omega watch I bought was in 2021, a white SM diver on bracelet for $ 4.5K. Then, the price was acceptable but asking $6.5K for a no date version is just too much, the same goes for their latest offerings.

For me, it’s the combination of meteorite and Speedy that I’m not a fan of. Really enjoy the classic black and the whites, but these feel too adventurous for me. I feel the same about most of the Racing ones too though, so maybe I’m just not cool enough! 🤓

I agree. Between any of these two and a Snoopy 50th and I’ll take the snoopy every day.
That said, I am really looking forward to seeing and trying them out next time I visit a boutique, but that’s about it.

I’d opt for the Snoopy every time too. Assuming money was not the issue!

Aha, OK, but what is the point of that?
Come on. What is even the point of needing a moonphase for any reason short of you being a lycan?
