Hey folks,
here are the photos and some info about the watch i gathered.
Model:
Universal Geneve Tri-Compax
Calibre:
287
Reference:
22543
Serial number:
1034370
Dial:
Many scratches, marks and scars (i like this kind of history a lot)
Movement:
clean, no rust
Case:
Solid steel, case size 36 to 37mm, nearer to 37mm
Crown:
Is looking original to me (
what do you think?)
Pushers:
Are looking original to me (
what do you think?)
Production Date:
probably 1943 (
what do you think?)
(found the info in sala's book, that serial numbers from 1.000.000 to 1.100.000 were produced in 1943 and 1944)
Moonphase-Disk:
blue disk with smiling face moon
Day-Disk / Month-Disk:
Both Spanish
Band / Buckle:
Both aftermarket
(and i am not absolutely happy with both;
anyone lead to an original tri-compax steel buckle from the 40ies? suggestions for dark brown alligator or lizard leather straps? 19mm, right?)
Hands:
I am - like some others - also not sure about the hour/minute-hands of this watch, knowing that the hands should match the dial. Lumed hands to lumed indices, golden hands to golden indices and so on. Due the fact that the indices of the watch could be understand as golden dot-indices, it would be obvious to match this dial with golden hands.
Did UG always installed indices-matching hands? On which dials were the blue hands installed?
In fact, the dot-indices of this dial are looking not golden. They are looking like brown copper and i think the blued hands matching these brown copper-dots (plus the steel case) very good (in my opinion much better than golden hands).
And there is another fact making me suspicious about possible falsity: the blue h/m-hands have exactly (!!!) the same blue color like the chrono-hand and the small hands. They all are looking similiar, like made from the same mold.
But with respect to Larry S' knowledge
I don't think the M/H hands are legit [...]
i would be happy about discussion.
Hope you like the pictures!
Cheers
A
