Hello everybody !

I'm quite new in the watch business however I wanted to buy an Omega Genève and found this Automatic date 166.070 on Chrono24. Everything seems right on the pics but something makes me doubt : the TSwiss MadeT logotype on the dial seems to be missplaced. I never seen it placed like this. What do you think?

Direct link to the product page : https://www.chrono24.fr/omega/geneve-automatic---tritium-dial---vintage-1960s--id11000587.htm

Thank for you help 😀

Hi Trajan,

welcome here on Omega Forums!

Another 166.070 with similar T Swiss Made was discussed here before:

https://omegaforums.net/threads/possible-omega-geneva-purchase-help.70876/

If you google the reference number you will find others looking like "yours"

Seems to be a legit variation

What is the asking price?

Good hunting!

EDIT: Nice looking watch as far as I can see!

EDIT: Took a closer look, please wait for confirmation by others!!

Thank you for your help !

The seller wants 515€ + shipping pretty legit in my opinion. But well wait and see for more confirmations ahah

EDIT :

After checking more pics and a closer look I realize that the logotype is not at the exact same place :

I just found only one watch matching with this one when I googled the serial + cal. Unfortunately it has been sold on Chrono24 so the product description is not available anymore...

The T's look odd but everything else looks correct. I think that's probably a genuine variation however the price seems slightly high to me.

Thank you.

This is the best deal I found for this model tbh, I really like the alligator strap though.

What kind of price do you think this is worth? This could help a little when it comes to negotiating ahah.

I'd say more like £300-350 max (€400), but then again I don't really buy from retailers. If it's a reputable store and they've serviced it etc it's not horrendous.

Just bear in mind the Geneves from the later part of the 60's/70's were really the entry level Omega watch, with basic cases and movements (although happily this has a 565 auto rather than a manual 6xx) and flat dials with sometimes a little experimental design.

It's a good, solid basic Omega but shouldn't be confused with the Constellations or even Seamasters from the period which are higher quality.

Some (golden ones) sold at Ebay for 400€...

Seller claims that the watch got a fresh service in 2019:
If that was verifiable price could be acceptable but usually the seller can't prove what has been done.
Movement looks very clean

Wait if you get more input on the T Swiss Made issue

For a retailer it's even cheap. If you have time and knowledge (or more time to acquire knowledge), you can find cheaper.

Yeah as I said before I'm pretty much a noob, I just got into watches like a year ago when I was working at Chanel (lol). That's why I'd rather get my first watch from a serious seller until I get enough experience.

The movement is really clean indeed. Do you think I can ask for a proof that it has been serviced?

Have this 166.070, I got very cheap, the case is rubbish, so got it for scrap value to get the 565 movement for parts. It has the same dial, I think it is ok.
