··Hoarder Of Speed et aliaYou're way out on your numbers there mate. I doubt that there is any 861 with a serial as low as 26 or 27m.
Actually there are, but they are 145.022-68s.

I guess Chuck and Roman Hartmann got it wrong......😕
My '68 was a 26xxxxxx and my '69 was 29xxxxxxx.
Given that this is a DoN bezel I'd put good money on it having a 29xxxxxx serial.
Regarding the price. I think $5k is very top end. Do you want a pristine watch or are you going to wear it? If you're specifically looking for a great condition '69 I think you can just about make the case for paying it. Just be aware that you can get nice examples, albeit not in the condition this is in, for half the price, and good examples for $3k+
It's not a million miles away.
My thinking is that in the last year, two genuine NOS 69 speedmasters have sold for around $5k (both were on this forum). These both had boxes and papers, were unworn and had the sales tags in tact. In otherwise, genuine collector grade pieces and they sold for c.$5k. A couple of lovely 69's, all correct and in very good condition have sold around $3k.
This example is in exceptional condition. But it has been worn, has the odd mark and doesn't have boxes, papers etc. Pre-moon Speedmasters have most definitely shifted in price in the last year but 861's don't seem to have increased. Or have they?
As I write this I'm thinking that they probably have increased slightly and the watches I mentioned above may well go for more than $5k right now.
This is probably of absolutely no help to you but I'd feel 4200-4500 is a more realistic price. Then again, if you love it and you have to have it, what's $800 between friends?!
Personally, if I was blowing $5k on a Speedmaster, I'd be looking for a nice 145.012. It'd be a chase but that's half the fun!

I was looking for the link to those NOS 69s and couldn't find them. I seem to recall that the last one had a DNN bezel which is an important distinction.
Hey Noles_88, if you like the watch, then buy it. If you wear it, it will get more worn and that will affect value.
No one here can tell you which watch you want.
Here's some that are currently available to give you an idea of the spread.

It might be wise to take a step back, learn more and then zero in on what you really want.
