    Hi all,
What do members think about this Rolex 1680. It looks to have an amazing mk1 dial. The watch is from 1975 with a 3.9 mill serial number. Is the bezel correct?
Is there anything that sticks out as unusual or should I just spend my hard earned money? ::psy::
    Thanks peeps

The bracelet jumps out at me. Are they claiming it's authentic?

    Hi,
The ad just states that it’s an oyster bracelet with 380 endlinks. So I guess they are not directly stating what the bracelet is exactly. I should ask

Case, dial, hands look nice. Case looks refinished. 3.9m is borderline red sub cut-off. I'd do more research prior pulling the trigger. What is the asking price?

Here is a useful link for your reference:

That's not unreasonable if everything checks out. The bracelet is most likely 9315 w/380 end links.

The seller replied and you are correct about the bracelet being a 9315. It seems to be a lovely 1680 to my eyes anyways and I don’t think the asking price is unreasonable for today’s prices.

It’s a nice MK1 dial, I wound get pics of the reference and serial numbers as well as the movement& & caseback inscription. Also, look at how much stretch exists on that bracelet, those are not cheap to fix these days. Also, look at the clasp code to make sure it’s aligned with production of the watch.

    Good luck.

Lume is very matchy matchy and totally pristine. Possible, but not very likely. Does the seller think the lume is original? Is it totally dead and consistent under UV?

They say that they believe it to be original. I think there are too many factors involved which need to be checked out in person for me to make a decision on this watch. The watch is in the states. I am in Europe

I remember in the 1990's when you could just go and buy one of these for a few hundred £. No one seemed to care if the case has been refinished, there never seemed to be a any question about the dial having been relumed and what was the number of the bracelet and end links? Life has become so complicated!!! I remember mulling over one of these for the princely sum of £700 in similar condition, Looks nice on the face of it. Good luck and enjoy!!!

I trust you've calculated import duties into the cost.

Work arounds are plentiful if you’re buying from an experienced seller, plenty of folks here can also provide input. The biggest concern should be authenticity / originality of the watch.

I remember this time too. I saw all sorts of Submariners and GMTs lined up in Austin Kaye's window on the Strand. The trouble was that I was a student in London and 700 quid was almost three months rent...

Does anybody know why the 380 endlinks look a bit too small or are these gaps normal?
