Hello,

My girlfriend is considering this watch to buy for my bday present. I told her there are some things to be careful about when buying vintage watches however I don't have your knowledge. What do you think a fair price range would be for this watch?

Also I tried to find some info about this gold bracelet '672', does this mean 67.2% purity? (16.2 carats)

Thanks for your advice.

The watch case has a very thin gold plating, and I assume the same is true of the bracelet. I would not recommend it for daily wear, but if you like the watch, and the price is not too high, it could be ok for occasional use.

I don't know off the top of my head of that bracelet is correct for the watch. If it matters to you, you could easily research that.

Edit: I just checked, and the 1193 bracelet is correct. The 672 endlinks are not (should be #725), but they seem to fit reasonably well.

Thank you Dan, this is very informative. The watch is 740 USD. Is that a fair price in your opinion?

From a collector's perspective, that is a very high price, because it's not what we would consider desirable. But the story is different for a one-off purchase as a gift. Just be aware that if the watch has not recently reserved a thorough movement service, you may have trouble with time-keeping or other operations (e.g. day-ate) in the near future, and a full service will cost an additional several hundred.
