If you buy from a professional dealer, you will generally pay a premium. If you buy on eBay or an auction, you need to have expertise, or ask an expert for help. Or you can keep your eyes on the sales listings on this site and buy a good watch from a collector.

If you need more ammunition for the seller,
The minute marks are very poorly done, random lengths and alignment, sloppy, too close to the centre, 11 and 1 misaligned, 3 is missing completely

Semantics. They can say it was redone correctly if the all the words are present, spelled correctly, and generally in the right places. What the experts are saying is that the printing is not accurate. A really good re-dial can take careful inspection to identify, this isn't one of those.

Overall, I don't think that the seller misled you. And TBH, they rely entirely on inexperienced buyers to sell watches like these. Buyers who have the idea that it would be cool to have a vintage watch, but want it to look new and shiny. There are plenty of buyers in that category.

There is no reason to argue with the seller, if you don't want it, it seems that they have a return policy. If you feel you need to explain your reasons, you can just say that you misunderstood what was meant by "restored." People with experience understand that to be a euphemism for repainted, but I've often seen inexperienced people think that it means the dial was cleaned. If they want fewer returns, they can be more upfront in their descriptions.

Thank-you! Yes I got the refund 😀 Now to find an actual constellation worth 2k? 😜

Thank-you!! I wish I had you on the phone with me LOL. They were really aggressive in their argument, and said that "splitting hairs does not matter."

I offered to buy it for 1k, they looked down on me like I was a poor soul lol....

Authentic black dial Constellations are quite uncommon. You will need to be very patient, or pry one out of the strong hands of a collector. Silver dials are easy enough to find.

Darrrrrn! Prying one from the strong hands of a collector might be tough! Where would you look for one if you were in the market? ... unless you are in the market and are looking LOL

If you are looking to buy a good original serviced Omega without having to become your own expert look here https://www.omegaenthusiastltd.com/
His prices are high retail.
Also a good place to learn what a collector level watch looks like.
Thank-you Bruce!!! I will check this out! Any other good places to check?

Would you trust Chrono? lol

Trust Chrono24? No, you must do your own vetting. Prices there are generally high as well.

Great news and thanks for your earlier response. Your tone was received by me differently than you intended. All is good and good luck on your search. Finding a good watch at a reasonable price will take a lot of time and patience. A search may take months to years.

Most of constellations with black dials in that period were "gilt" dials.
You should learn what a gilt dial is before buying one.
