Hi All,

Wondering your opinion in this constellation I am being offered. These black dials have tricked me before so hoping to get the OF thoughts if this is a redial. Based on the lume I believe this to be an original dial but never hurt to get the crowds opinion.

What happened to the white hour markers?

 

Lume plots removed?? Case looks quite thin

 

Why?

 

The OPs is a lume version, so there is aged black lume on the hour marks...yours is a non lume.

The lume between the hands and dial seems to match well

 

Did not know these came in lume versions...

 

Can you provide other examples of lume plots in that location? I don’t recall seeing that on non-redials. Happy to be educated on this, though.

 

I never saw these with lume around the hour markers. But I'm happy to be corrected...

 

By the way, the watch itself looks amazing. Redial or not.

 

I was told that these lumed hands were only available when a special order was made to factory for a lumed Constellation.

I would bet one could specify where the plots would go.





I would say the OP's watch is off the scale being both a Black Dial/Factory lume Special order and a Pie Pan Constellation. I vote original.

Maybe the crown should be the thin decagon. That is a mere quibble, though.

Desmond told me these lumed hands were only special order. Also, the plots were more commonly placed as you see in the OP's watch.

 

Such a shame that the lume plots are there. It may be less common than without, but it does nothing good for the look, IMO. Can't fault it otherwise

 

I think the thick decagonal crown is correct on 2852s.

 

Thin is correct up to a certain serial number, when the thicker one was introduced. And the thicker one was used as the factory replacement during a service for years.

Thin makes for a more nice appearance, but thick are more functional.

 

What's the price?

 

I also have to say that those aged dial lume plots do nothing for the overall look. The lugs also look a little soft to me. Still, I'd say a buy.....but only if the price is right.

Agree case is not great. But ive never seen this black dial with the wg arrowheads for sale before so I'm pretty tempted.

Ive owned plenty of black dialed yg arrowhead 2852s. Maybe one day a pg arrowhead but ive stil never seen one for sale
