Need Advice on A Heuer Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarer

I've been trying to find a replacement bezel for this watch but it looks like I would have to wait a few years at the small chance. I'm buying a new house in August and I want to sell the watch to help with finances. Wanting some advice from anyone on what to do with the watch. The watch works but I'm going to have it serviced first. Would you sell it as is or replace it with a different bezel? It's a 2446c.

I'm going to try and sell it with a higher end auction company...if they take them in this condition. Not sure what the best thing to do is. Any help would be great thanks

yeah, sell it as-is. the service will cost more than it will benefit you.

I doubt one of the big auction houses would take it without a correct bezel. Is it the same MH bezel as all the compressor Autavias (2446, 7763, 7863) ? Is it really hard to find one ? Have you posted WTB adverts on the OnTheDash forum, contacted guys like Abel Court etc ?

Not sure. I thought the Mareograph used the 2nd exec case, but don't ask me what the differences are.

OTOH Mareographs are very, very rare: 44 known according to the link to heuerchrono I posted earlier. I think it will be snapped up before the auction houses have their first cup of coffee in the morning. Autavia bezels are relatively thick on the ground 😲

I hate these Mareograph threads as I’m always reminded about the £5k eBay BIN one I just hesitated on for too long.

Wince. I feel your pain.

I had at least 10 minutes of thinking time which should have been more than enough. Oh well, at least the seafarer gods smiled on me another day.

It would take me that long to check online account balances and count what was in the slush-fund envelope carefully disguised as an unwanted communication from HMRC.

You beat me posting that very same comment by seconds... I reckon that was the intention. @Hunt3r122 did you have a chance to look back at the replies yet ? Can you confirm exactly which bezel you’re after ?

You could have bought this one that just sold on the ‘bay but 8k is a lot for a bezel 😜

Yea I saw that but honestly I thought that was incredibly cheap compared to some of the other final bids I've seen for the watch. Someone got lucky because if I had seen that I definitelywould have bought it. That Autavia bezel is listed all over the place and is very worn down. It will fit but the question is it acceptable for potential buyers. Im going to call around to the auction houses and get their opinions. I don't know might just have to sell it as is. Thanks for the replies.

Your dial is definitely in better condition. Hard to see from the pic but the eBay dial has a fair amount of material missing near the sub dials. I think you’ll get more money even if you have the incorrect bezel. So long as you or the auction house is upfront it shouldn’t be an issue. People will pay more if it has a bezel versus not

I’d agree with the above. I think you’d get more as your dial is so much better. But be careful assuming that someone somehow ‘stole” that watch above. It was well listed on a global platform, and the seller had enough feedback that the price shouldn’t have been held back. Prices for Heuer have softened and I don’t think you can expect now what you might have got in 2017.
