Yes truly great cinematography (Carlo Di Palma) wonderful palette.. The pollution is an omnipotent character in the film, the landscape is desolate and bleak, and the year is 1964. I'll leave it for a couple of days and see if someone gets it, can give more clues if needed although if I give her name I think that might give the whole thing away, as she was very much the directors Muse 馃槈

pretty easy to peg the era of this by looks, but even so: not a chance I woulda guessed this one (and I鈥檝e even seen the film the still is from in the last year 馃槻)

So it's the Drop Dead Gorgeous Monica Vitti who stars alongside Richard Harris in Michelangelo Antonioni's The Red Desert (AKA Il Deserto Rosso), it's a classic Antonioni film, immaculately crafted, wonderfully ambiguous with incredible cinematography by Carlo Di Palmer, this came out soon after Antonioni's trilogy.
