Seems like this one isn't hitting any memories so I'll give it up. This film is "Amazon Women on the Moon". A strange little movie with the most amazing cast. It's essentially a series of skits which is supposed to mimic flicking through late night TV. Some of the skits are funnier than others but some really make me laugh. There's a nice little write up here: Amazon Women On The Moon – tape 1475 | VHiStory (wordpress.com)

I'll post a clue to another movie now (I think that's the rules).

The Homecoming
BINGO! Well done, Al. I didn’t think that this one would be that difficult. It’s the pilot that started “The Waltons” and, IMHO, one of the better holiday movies ever made. There’s nothing sugar coated about it.

It was pretty easy - I knew the movie right away, but the name sort of escaped me at the time (age related?). Anyway, I didn't want to cheat and look it up, then I forgot about it. When you posted the second photo the name popped into my head. I remember watching this when it was first broadcast...

I'll have to come up with a new one...

I wanted to say the Waltons when I saw the 2nd screen cap but knew it wasn't. Good to see I wasn't too far off.

What made this movie so appealing was the harsh reality of the times set against the backdrop of the holidays. The husband had been unable to get work locally, so he had found employment in a town 50 miles away and could only come home on the weekends via bus. The family had expected him to arrive home during the day on Christmas Eve when they learned via a radio news broadcast that there had been a bus accident in which two men had been killed. Set during the Great Depression, there were no televisions or cell phones and like most, the family had no car, so all they could do was sit, wait, and hope. No talk of Santa Claus, festive meals, expensive gifts, etc. And a very strong cast including Patricia Neal, Andrew Duggan, Richard Thomas, William Windom, Cleavon Little, Edgar Bergen and Ellen Corby, among others.
