路Wow - a little late to this game, but just bought myself a new Speedmaster and am shocked that this happened to OP - though, I guess it makes sense after Archers diagnosis. Learned something new!
Thanks all for the replies and comments. I feel compelled to add that I did actually buy my SMP from my AD, largely because the difference between the gray price and their 90% of MSRP was only the cost of a service, so I decided that it was worth it to me for that extra little bit of security. But also because I do, when at all possible, prefer to buy locally because we need to support these business so that a) USA #1 馃憤 and b) we have a place to go look at stuff before we buy it on the Internet.
Sorry to see this happen on a new watch. I'll be curious how they react to the "International" warranty card. Let us know if you get charged by Omega when you get it back.
That is Omega's warranty card. Why would it be an issue?
idk. I鈥檇 just like to know what his service experience is like.
this one was simply missed in the second step
Just out of curiosity, what is the likelihood that a screw bouncing around the movement could or would cause other damage? Could it, I don't know, chip a tooth on some other gear, pinch a bend into a spring, cause something to go out of round, or prematurely age/wear a bearing?

For some reason, when I subscribe to a thread, I never get notifications. But assuming that others do, or remember to go back and follow, here's an update on my service, as promised. I am pleasantly surprised by the progress as shown on the Omega "Customer Information System".
So, hopefully it will be back on my arm shortly. Even if it's finished today, I'm wishing that they won't ship it until after the holiday madness.
Nice to see that there were no issues with the international warranty (I bought it gray market) and it hasn't taken the 7 weeks that some had suggested is the norm these days.
It was also nice that Omega provided the web site for status, although it would have been even nicer if they'd sent me an email when the status was updated.
So, Merry Christmas to me!!!

Yippee!!!! It's back.
Got the lovely carrying case as well.
They were kind enough to include the watch:
It's been on my wrist for 10 minutes now, and it's still running! This is, unfortunately, a record for this watch.
I checked, and it appears that all screws are where they are supposed to be.
It was presumably finished on Tuesday, but wasn't shipped until Thursday and even though I could have driven down there, picked it up, and driven back, with multiple overnight stays, in less time than it took FedEx. But I'm not complaining. OK, maybe. LOL
Thanks to everyone, especially Al (@Archer) for the assistance and words of support.
