My Early Seamaster 120 Divers. What to look for and what to avoid.

I really want to find a bracelet for mt 135.027, Does anyone have a good lead for a descent metal bracelet?
Up to now I have onlu used a Tropic strap, but it get quity warm 😀

Hi all,

Forgive me for my ignorance, but after reading through 8 pages worth of valuable information on the Seamaster 120; one question remains unanswered: which references are okay to come with a date in black on a white background, and which ones should come with a white on black font? Looking at the ad posted above by @hmmmcamu, it was supposedly correct for both the manually and automatically wound models for a certain period of time?

Appreciate more input on this, thanks in advance!

Looking at the hands, bracelet, box etc, this one may have been back to Omega in the last few years.

The seller says: "This is the fixed bezel variation". I wonder if that means the bezel is stuck and no longer rotates.

as far as I know the 120 "Skin Diver" ... both in auto and manual version .... had a friction [non click] Bi-directional bezel ...

Crown ? no crown ? here are photos of original 120 crown from the 1960's

Hello. I am new to this forum and I created an account just so I can ask this question.

I am fairly green with luxury watches, especially vintage, but Ive been passively looking for my first Omega watch for a few months now. I stepped into a jewler today and asked him what he had in terms of Omega, and he showed me this. I'd like to know what you think and how much it's worth, but first let me take a crack at it because I want to learn.

It's a seamaster 120 so likely from the 1960s. Automatic, hesalite glass. It's in fairly bad shape. The second hand looks completely wrong. The loom dot at top is missing, and the bracelet is falling apart, but other than that, everything looks original right? What about the fact that the hesalite glass doesn't have a window for the date, is that normal? All in all, what would you say, $500?

first the BEZEL is next to IMPOSSIBLE to locate or replace ... second sweep hand is not correct as u stated ... the watch case side on both 3 and 9 o'clock position should have a NOTCH to confirm it is correct watch case, scroll up to photos i shared that shows the crown and compare the watch case on the 120 in ur photo ... did u have a chance to peek inside the movement ?

No we didn't open it up. it didnt get that far because I wanted to do my research. Reading the original post, the black date on white background means it's a 136 manual mov? So the automatic face of the 165 is wrong or the date is wrong?

u handled the watch ... was it AUTOMATC ? .. did u feel the movement wind ? ... i am confused by ur mention of the date back ground and numeral color ... if the dial says automatic ... and u felt the movement wind like an automatic should ... please clarify ?

Didn't try winding it. He did it for me. I held it for 2 minutes and took a picture. My question stems from Gemini's original post where he identifies the fake. One of the things he says is that the black date on white background is from the borrowed movement. The three watches in his automatic picture have a white date on black background. So now I'm questioning if it's a manual with an incorrect face or an automatic with an incorrect date.

So is the watch worthless then?
