back in the day it was an unspoken thing when a customer went to the watch store they were offered upgrades via after market products such as bracelet/straps/band ... in Omega's case ... one they would offer via in store sale only was the option for a BOR [beads of rice] bracelet this was an UPGRADE ....... and i am sure other style bracelets as a means to UPSALE ... of course the display cases would also be stocked with " SPIEDEL, JB Champion, and other after market bracelets/ straps " .... and the standard NATURAL RUBBER divers strap... these came in CURVED END and STRAIGHT END ........ depending on the watch case style ........ .... the mighty .... SWISS TROPIC MOD DEP divers strap ... and at some point the salesman would offer it to the customer ..... swiss tropic came in a few different styles ... the cross hatched divers most ppl know about ... some swiss tropic have exotic designs/patterns .... some came in RALLY style with different patterns
Yes, thanks. I understand that, but it doesn't explain why, as original equipment, the company would fit a diving-intended watch with a strap made of material that is hardly suited to that activity.
I'm looking for a white seconds hand for a Seamaster 120. The watch model number is 165.027 but the hands are the same as for the 166.027 and possibly the 135.027 & 136.027. If anyone has one spare or knows where I could pick one up please message me.
I would also be interested in an hour and minute hand with tritium lume. Also if anyone could let me know the Omega part numbers for these items please it may help me find them.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I will also post on the WTB area when I have reached 200 posts.
So I was going to post a full on thread with all the pictures I got, but as this thread is specific about the 120 I thought I'd start here. In short my father in law's best friend, since 14 years old, currently has stage 4 lung cancer, and is trying to liquidate assets before he passes, since he has no savings, etc. to leave his wife. I offered to see what I could do with some of the watches he has. Now this guy has collected literal totes - yes the big ones - full of watches over the years. Nothing too expensive though. He does have some vintage omega, and one of the ones he has is a manual wind 120 with the box and papers from what I understand. It's not pristine by any means, but it is single owner since new, and I seriously doubt he ever had it serviced by Omega. I only have one picture of it at the moment, but I'd like to get him a fair price for it.
