My Early Seamaster 120 Divers. What to look for and what to avoid.

this is my message to the seller :

Hey,
I did a lot of research on the watch and there’s a lot of disturbing details :
1) the drawing on the casback is not the classic Omega SM 120 one ;
2) there ´s a too deep engraving on the caseback ;
3) « _waterproof_ » is not engraving correctly, the letters are too close ;
4) the dial text should be white (not grey), it’s impossible to had a grey text on a NOS watch ;
5) on the dial it’s written « _seanaster_ » and not « _seamaster_ », I’ll send you pictures ;
6) the Pip seems too be uncorrect.


There were kits sold to make your own fake 120 and it provided everything except the movement- this is probably one of them.

I’m sorry for you,

You should change your watchmaker.

I’m not reporting this information at chrono24 because you seems to be an honest person.

I hope you’ll remove this watch,

He answer me that he deleted the product and Send me the document from the Omega expert in Switzerland...

i’m surprised...

He said to me that he’s going to send me the document.

I’m waiting !

Let see that document from the expert!

The interesting thing about the bezel is that the outerrim is metal color. Almost every fake bezel I saw had a black outerrim. The fake kits I saw have a black outerrim as well. So this is something different. Interesting.

Have been searching for one of these for a long time but haven't pulled the trigger yet. What do you experts think about this one? Most things check out from what I can tell.

Hey,

I speak under the control of the other member but :

- the logo on the caseback is correct ;

- seamaster and no seanaster

- white seamaster.

for me it’s look authentique.

What worries me a bit is the fact I cant see any lume next to the date window.

Great catch. In the first pic it looks like there might be a little residue at the edge of the dial. After looking for every 136.027 picture possible online I think this is fairly common to lose the date lume drop and just see a little left behind.

That 120 has got to be one of the cleanest I have seen- which raises an eyebrow for me- but always raise an eyebrow with these watches as there are known fakes. I do see a touch of discoloration at the edges of some of the lume which would be in keeping with a little moisture at one point- which is a good thing as it speaks to an original dial. The bezel has me wondering- it’s flawless, no wear at all- and is that finish correct (I thought they were more satin finish and not textured like this one)? I rarely see them this clean so it has me wondering.

I only bought 120's with faded bezels so I had a bit more security. I think with this one you really need to see it in person to make a good judgement. Degredation of the date window lume while the rest seems flawless. Like @JwRosenthal said the bezel raises a eyebrow. Hmmm. Difficult to say...

Also need to mention- bracelet is possibly not correct for this watch, I would also ask for pics of the endlinks and clasp so I could verify the #’s. The correct bracelets for these definitely add value

Through my research I've found bezels on authentic watches that have that same texture, and I've seen ones which are more satin like you mentioned. The font seemed to be accurate, the pip, the teeth, and the side profile all look genuine to me.

I agree, it looks excellent- would be worth a closer look at the bracelet to assess total value. Is this an auction or someone you have met with?
