Thanks for the answer @hmmmcamu . Just curious as @gemini4 showed a photo with black background.
that is the thing with vintage watches .... repairs by watch makers or patch up jobs by sellers ... one never really knows .... when in doubt ... find an official reference point ... as in this case ... OLD AVERTS .... several old adverts ... until i see a vintage advert that shows otherwise .. i would go by the several ads that show black number with white background
Here's a 166.027 from the Omega database which shows a white date background.
I've seen plenty of 136.027 & 166.027 with both black and white date backgrounds so I think it is likely that both are correct.
If you are really unsure then go for a non-date version ;-)
Whilst I am posting on this thread, does anyone have any photos of the larger sized Seamaster 120 (not the 31mm size) with either a blue or green dial?
Great topic, helped me a lot in finding nice 136.027's. Have had two, but both were sold again. Now I have it high on my wanted list again, probably a keeper if I find the correct one 😉
You have to find an original set of hand to put on that one !!
had it serviced by omega service center ... fully overhauled ... dive depth certified .... dial was in acceptable condition for service ... and the watch case was also acceptable for ... pressure test ... BUT ... the ORIGINAL HAND SET ... had some flaking ... Omega replaced them ... with current set for this model .......... original handset is in the little plastic bag they sent back with the watch
In order to help others avoid buying fakes, here's another replica Seamaster 120 kit available on eBay, this time with the Afghan military marking. It even has the Omega logo etched into the crystal.
I contacted the seller and he admitted the kit was a replica.
