The watch looks great on you. Whatever it might be worth on the market, if you sell it you will never get another one like it at any price.

Hi Krogerfoot,

I'll never sell it. My dad had it all his life, which I didn't know about, then he passed away then my brother got it, he passed away, so finally it was passed onto me the last sibling and thank-you for the comment!...

Kind regards,
Stewart

John Senior announced his semi retirement a couple years back, he’s working on his own projects and could still be reachable though...
Hi Syrte,

Do you know how I can get hold of John Senior?...

Regard,
Stewart

Glad to hear you're keeping it. Your father was not screwing around when he selected that watch, and your brother kept it in great shape.

Funnily enough, he didn't get it himself, his mother gave him it for his gave him it when he was a wee bairn, that's why he had it all his life.

Hi everyone,

Just been talking to "Michael Boesch"
From "Omega in Switzerland, " I've spoken to him a few times now, he's prepared to send a representative at the Swatch Group UK who will arrange the pick-up of my watch and forward it to their workshop in Biel.

This is Michael talking - Also, our specialists work hand in hand with our brand heritage experts to ensure that after the restoration, your watch is faithful to the original timepiece documented in our official archives.

So I've replied yes to Michael and see what happens when they receive it in Biel if I don't agree with the price, they'll send it back at no extra cost, win-win!...

Regards,
Stewart

The above statement would not give me confidence about the “restoration”.

If your goal is to maintain the originality of your heirloom watch, be sure you know exactly what they are doing and what will be replaced or altered, else you may not recognize it afterwards.

Aren’t services at Omega around 500 or 600 Swiss francs?
If it were mine I’d be afraid to lose a precious family heirloom in cross border shipments with the Brexit mess and the Covid.

I would not send it to Omega, even with very detailed instructions.
Unless you want your watch fully restored to look brand new, find an independent watchmaker.

Oops, and things were going so well until now. Most of the restorations I have seen from Omega involved repainted dials, which is what they consider making the watch look brand new again. That is not what I would want.

You have to be very specific in your instructions. Like: " under no circumstances, alter my original dial or exchange my original hands. No dial cleaning, pls. Do not polish my case. Just service the movement and replace all seals incl. the crown seal. If that is not possible, return the old crown as well. If you have the original shaped crystal, pls. replace and send back the original. "
