·I'd like to strongly disagree with this. The records were not kept by any central organization at that time and finding information for that era really depends on finding local newpapers.

·So, we still have the original problem, without something more tangible, it's pretty hard to isolate Edward M Corey from other Edward M Coreys. The watch doesn't have a rank, military id, date, city/country, organization, or anything else.

·But the census reports from the government, at first glance, seem to have caught almost everything. And even if they didn’t, I’d still say it’s reasonable to assume the percentages are going to be scalable, unless it’s for extremely unusual names where missing a few tens or hundreds would make a significant difference. Anyway I’ll stick to about 60, and you can stick to about 600,000.

·I don’t think >6 months is unrealistic. I’m not even sure what the connection is between the invoice date and the physical delivery date to the distributor.

·I am okay if the watch belongs to Sgt. Corey, I am just curious how the connection was made. It is based on a story that Ed gave a gift from his parents to a watchmaker. My only contention is that Ed M Corey is a popular name making it really hard to find that person by name alone.
