Movado M90/95 Thread

It seems like 90/95 on FB cases are priced significantly higher than the rest, maybe a little too high even imo. Given that decent condition chronos seems to be getting rather scarce now, the price range seems to be getting higher especially for the more exotic dials. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough..

Just want to clarify your comment:
Priced higher than the rest of what? Relative to M95s not in Borgel/Taubert cases? My understanding is that M90s were utilizing FB cases since at least 1939, and M95s since 1946...have any of you come across a M90/M95 that was NOT In an FB case?

Are these FB cases or am I missing something here..?

Thanks guys, I wasn't aware. Ponthelion, no I think you're right.

Back to your original point - you're generally seeing the FB cases being priced much higher than the others? Makes sense, just curious of the value gap between them (difficult to answer generalities, I know). I may need to seek out non-FB to obtain these at a lower price point.

Yes it does seem to be the case, in terms of priority it seems most people rank being on an FB case as number one.

There is barely any information on 90/95m apart from Rich's post on Reescapement so I always appreciate any info that sheds light on the different variations of these chronos.

Grail of mine will always be one with Breguet numerals. One can dream 😀

That's the article that I was thinking about. I misunderstood his point...those are the dates when FB case was perhaps first documented with each movement, but clearly not a move to exclusively using FB cases from then onward. Makes sense, user error on my part!

This one was described as: MOVADO SUB SEA CHRONOGRAPHE, Réf. 1607
Anyone a clue? Obviously a redial

Well this may be a definition thing but fake does not make much sense to me.

Received this today. My first.

That looks great in gold!

After asking so many questions in this thread, I am glad to be able to contribute a photo of my own now. Here’s my inverse, that I believe is the watch Toddles123 showed on page 2 of this thread. I’m thrilled about this one

Sold for 18k usd

I don’t get it. The case is nice, but the radium burn on the dial? Meh

Its actually USD 15K ( hammer ) + 25% commision + State Tax. And according to me, there is something going on at Phillips.

Yeah some listings waaay exceeded expectations...the 95 didn't end at an astronomical price but still, probably higher than what it's worth.

Another IWC sold for $48,000 , you can find for $35,000 and no one wants. How can someone pay more for things are not rare.

I definitely won't rule out the possibility of money laundering but with the recent surge in wealth of many, 10-20k might not mean much to a millionaire/billionaire who may be just merely doing some "window shopping".

I would suggest keeping the thread to Movados rather than speculation about Phillips' buyer universe 😉

And a little m95 content to keep this thread on track.
@Ted1858- nice find! Glad you landed that gem.

And below, a view into an M95, which I find to be a very attractive Movement.

Thanks @Flatfoot ! I am loving it!

I know that Gay Freres gets the glory when it comes to vintage bracelets. But after handling my Movado bracelet personally, I actually prefer it to my Kontiki GF from the same period.
