I went to the Omega Boutique at the Short Hills Mall today

Short Hills is the fanciest mall I've ever been in. I think the only thing I ever bought there while in college down the road at Drew was shampoo at Crabtree & Evelyn.

I'm Class of '84 at Drew! Started at Bucknell, transferred to Drew. Best move I ever made. My wife grew up in Livingston and the SHM has always been her personal magnetic north. It's definitely a she-she mall, waaaaay upscale.

How about that! Small world. CLA '93 (-ish) here. It was my class that was incoming when Mead Hall burned down in '89. I went back for the 10th reunion in 2003 and it was very, very strange being inside it.

I still have the lifelong friends I made on Tolley 2nd. One of them's now a trustee!

A healthy secondary market helps the luxury manufacturers.
The ability to sell easily at a healthy price if the watch is not liked can be a factor for a new buyer. If the secondary market is weak & frowned upon, that would be a negative factor.
Great point, Rolex sport watches being the best examples of this

But the new 44.25 basic Moonwatch definitely is.

Not a moonwatch, just a speedmaster 😉

Oops! Someone had best inform Omega's web designers

The marketing black hole will suck as much product in as it can if there is a buck to be made.

Yeah..I like the original 9300 too. I used to want at DSoM and GSoM but I thought long and hard about how long the ceramic would last with normal every day wear and I couldn't convince myself that it would be better than stainless steel over the long term. Here is mine.

For me, the black-on-black of the DSotM makes the case and lugs look too pronounced and seems to change the shape of the case. It loses its round shape somewhat. It's just an optical illusion but it alters the natural beauty of the watch's round shape to me.

An interesting aside, learned today, is that the dials on the larger Speedmasters are actually smaller than the dials on the faces of the smaller models. I never noticed this until I was staring at them side by side. The OB had the new 44.25mm models in a case next to the new '57's.

Wait! ras47, did I read this right?! Did the OB in NJ actually have the 'new' 60th Anniversary '57 Speedmaster in the store?

Indeed they did! But I'd call first to confirm it wasn't just display models. I recall him saying they had some of the new models in but that some of the other BaselWorld 2017 models would not be in until mid-summer.
