All depends on the AD.

Not sure you can get a flight from Newquay International Airport up to Heathrow ;-)

You can indeed fly from Newquay to Heathrow most days I believe.

Where in God's county are you (Camborne boy here). There used to be ADs in Truro & Falmouth, there is a small vintage place near Truro cathedral.

Michael Spiers is the Truro AD not sure on the Falmouth one.

Truro goldsmiths always has a nice selection in if that's where you mean.

Purchased my Hesalite Speedmaster Professional (FtoF) on July 20 from my nearest AD, about an hours drive into Maryland, got about 20% off, just purchased a Seamaster Pro for about the same discount. I do have a long history with this AD, I'm reasonably sure that effects the pricing. Picking up the Seamaster next Thursday so they can size the bracelet properly, may get an additional NATO as well. Generally, being an established customer seems to help if the AD has any common sense.

I can't remember the name of the Falmouth one but it's on Arwenack Street, on the way down to Trago.
I didn't know Truro had a Goldsmith's I've been away for a good while don't get back that much.
The used watch place in Truro is in the street behind Wilkinson & Lakeland Go through Wilkinson from Boscawen Street out the back turn right & go towards the White Hart. It's opposite what used to be the British Legion

Sorry for the confusion. Truro Goldsmiths is the name of the vintage place you are referring to.

Aha, I get home so rarely these days that I remember where these places are but forget the names,
They serviced my dad's Seiko Kinetic there, did a good job.
Have you looked at Plymouth or Exeter?

I was indeed thinking Michael Spiers! Anywhere else you would suggest?

Not locally, I’d wait until you’re in a big city with a few ADs or boutiques. Although I did have a great experience with Ray & Scott in Guernsey a few years ago!

I have just been in to the local AD this morning. Looked at the Tudor Chrongraph and the sapphire moonwatch. I will be making a return visit next week to look at the hesalite moonwatch.

Seemed to be pushing the Tudor and said more of a discount would be available on that which took me a little by surprise.

Omega website says the next closest one is Plymouth with nothing showing for Exeter or Falmouth.

Thanks for the heads up anyway. I am not desperate to get it so I have the option to walk away and wait until I am in London or Manchester in the new year.

Hi all.

I have already done a search on the forum but just wanted to know if anyone had successfully negotiated a discount this year on the moon watch from an AD?

Just wanted to know if I should realistically expect some sort of discount given all the hype around the watch this year.

I am pretty set on buying from an AD given it's my first expensive watch purchase.

I know a price increase is expected for October.

Cheers for any feedback.

Jason
Honestly man there are plenty of brand new moon watches on this forum for sell with the 5 yr manufacturer warranty at a huge discount. Bought one from @demollo this year and HIGHLY recommend. No need to pay a premium at an OB if you’re still getting the manufacturer warranty.

Here’s a Sapphire one and a hesalite one new with warranty for a fraction of the cost.

Exeter is pretty bad for watches... The branch of Michael spiers does Rolex and Omega but has dropped Tudor and the Goldsmiths does Tudor but has dropped Omega and that is basically it for watch shops so there is no competition at all! 🙁

Makes sense really from a business point of view not so great for the customer mind.

Never know I might get offered a nice deal when I go back next week. I wont hold my breathe but it's worth a shot.

I bought mine last October (fortunately) at a little better than 30% off MSRP. Was also grandfathered into the now five-year warranty.

Good deals can be found, but the hunt is long

I should add: yes, it was new and not used. It was also a current year model and not old stock

I've seen up to 10-15% off the Speedy Pro locally, plus a bit more if it's shipped out of province (an additional 7/8% of PST). So maybe 20% all in. That's as good as it seems to get, based on my months of hunting in the wilds of Canada. Did not find any deals on the FOIS or SMP 300, since both seem to be In high demand or region-allocated ATM (SMP 300s and accessories on bracelet and rubber backordered at my AD).

I get around 28% off non LE at my AD.

But that’s with VAT Refund of 18% plus an additional 10%
