Monnin case on a diet

I was just fooling around with Photoshop today, and - while I remain a fan of all Monnin cased watches - I thought it'd be interesting to see what a Monnin case on a diet would look like, with all the fatty bits & crown guards trimmed..
What d'y'all think?

A bit like a Seamaster 165.024, only with straight lugs..?

👍

I like the flat lugs, much more suited to the tool watch role that the watch is meant for.

While I do like the looks of the “diet” version, I think the original case is better for the intended version of the watch as a tool. That term is bandied about for expensive luxury watches all the time (e.g., Rolex Subs), but these CWCs were really built as a tool for the MOD. Thus, having a larger case without the bezel hang over is a plus (bezel less likely to be knocked off alignment). Same with the thick crown guards.

I don’t expect my hammers to be pretty, just that they work as intended and don’t break. The original case is just like that.

How dare you mess with my favorite tool watch case design. I demand you delete this abomination!

Negative. Mr. Chambers covered all the bases I would, so no need to repeat them. When there is work to be done, CWC. Otherwise, a 2254 does nicely.

I'm with you on that. But we all know we always hurt the ones we love the most 😀
If CWC read this, contact me to discuss my royalty 😉

Which get knocked about more, the big thick and heavy watch or the thin and dainty type? Honest question, but my black bay 41 is a ding magnet compared to my 5500 air king.

My marathon GSAR never met a doorframe it wasn’t attracted to. My Seamaster 120 is about as unobtrusive as it gets. Can even wear it under the cuff of an Oxford.
