I just arrived home after an amazing and unforgettable day in Pasadena, California. I dropped off my Speedmaster 1861 Hesalite along with my Omega Mitsukoshi Dial and Handset with Shant of Shant's Clock and Watch Repair. He is a third generation watch guy who is an expert with all vintage and new watches and clocks. I couldn't more highly recommend him. As an added bonus, I got to visit the Norton Simon Art Museum while he worked on my watch.

I picked it up at 3:00 pm after a wonderful day at the Museum.

I am speechless. I can't believe I have something this beautiful of my own. I never expected this.

I will be back to tell the whole story but wanted to post what will always be the first pic of this masterpiece taken in Shant's shop.

I don't know how I got this lucky.

More later....

Very nice. The Mitsukoshi, Apollo 11 35th and Tokyo 2020 panda dial trio are some of the sharpest Speedmaster dials Omega ever made. The opaline silver main and black subdials look great on the wrist. Finding loose dials is getting harder and harder.

How much did he charge for the labor to do this? He did it in a day? Wow!

I specifically asked and Shant gave me permission to discuss his operation.

He did the dial and hand swap for $150 and in less than four hours. This is his typical level of service and another forum member also had his done in a day. I am actually the third Omega Forum member he has assisted with this operation.

He also can provide a complete movement service for $500. This is considerably less than Omega as well as other Watch Repair people.

He is the only one who will ever touch my watches. If I ever have to move to Kansas, or wherever, I will pay for postage shipping to utilize his expertise, and still come out way ahead.

I was wondering about that dial, because of the recent spate of fakes on eBay (and they’re out there again — same seller with a new ID). Might help if the OP would tell us where he got the dial. Personally, I can’t tell from that photo and would want one in clearer focus before making any judgement. But that’s just me.

That's a shame if it's a fake dial, but I'm surprised that a well regarded and experienced Speedmaster watch repairer didn't catch it was a fake. But maybe he just didn't pay attention to its details when the installation was done. With Omega turning off the spigot on popular limited edition dials like the Mitsukoshi, Apollo 11 35th and Japan Racing Special, funny business is bound to continue to increase.
