Mitsukoshi Mod on new 3861 Speedmaster?

Hi guys,

First time posting here but was hoping you guys could help me out. I've been holding onto a mitsukoshi dial and hands set but was looking to do the mod on the new 3861 Speedmaster. I know the movement is based off the 1861 but i heard around 50% of the parts weren't interchangeable. On top of that the watch itself is a bit slimmer and the subdials are stepped.

Has anyone had any experience doing the mod on the new speedies? Or has anyone (or any watchmakers here) had any experience with the movements side by side?

I always think mods are best done on older watches that have been picked up at a good price. Is there a particular reason why you want to do this on a 3861?

I think he previously stated that he doesn't know if 1861 dials are compatible with the 3861 movement. It seems no one has tried it yet, or at least reported on it.

Yes, those are the first, but not the only things. Shape of the dials as they fit the cases, location of the sub-dial holes - other things would need to be verified as well.

No, it really isn’t. It’s just a modification that can be changed back.

Agreed.

As long as the person isn't trying to sell it as an authentic Mitsukoshi then whatever. They can do whatever they want with their watch.

You probably know you will lose the warranty, if that's a consideration.
