I agree strongly with the sentiment here. The idea that a watch with a minimum 50m of water resistance needs to be babied and can't be worn in the shower is completely ridiculous. At 50 meters the watch is resisting around 5 bars of pressure. I saw a video review in which someone said "don't do anything more than wash your hands with the [moonwatch] on and definitely don't shower with it." I'm seriously curious what the heck kind of shower this person was taking, if they're worried about a moonwatch not being able to handle it.

Reality is the Speedy is tough enough for almost anybody's every day life and has water resistance to match; meanwhile the Seamaster is way more than most people will ever need in terms of water resistance.
Just don’t snorkel with it…not rated for snorkeling 😗

. like many others here I’m a bottomless pit of capitalist desire for “more,” “different,” and “new,” and the world will never run out of shiny things for me to chase. You will find no wisdom here, my friend.

You’ve been warned.
That sounds like some wisdom to me!

In my 20's I had a friend with the crappiest car,and I asked how he got girls with that car. He said, "If I need a better car to get girls, I don't need a better car. I need a better me."

Similarly, if you need something more to be happy, it's not really the thing you need.

Last night I happened across this youtube channel. I don't think that would be the answer for me, but I couldn't help but be jealous!

But how are you gonna know what time it is when you’re motorcycling around the world? …With a watch that costs LESS that $6,000USD? Pshaw!

Here’s an update for everyone…. I only have the financial space in my life for one really nice watch, and I just wasn’t absolutely in love with my Seamaster 300 Heritage. I ended up trading my Seamaster back to the dealer. Yes I lost some money but I felt it was a fair deal. I put it toward a Speedmaster 3861 Sapphire Sandwich and choked up the difference. It sucks that I lost a few bucks, but everything in the universe feels right when I look down at this watch on my wrist.

That Speedy looks good on your wrist too. Glad you've finally come to a decision and found some inner peace. Wear it in good health.

You've selected a wonderful watch. Wear it for a few months. The Speedmasters aren't going anywhere, you can buy one then.

I'm a reaosnably experience watch guy, but I went through a similar thing as you. I purchased a Seamaster 1948 and, after a month or two of barely wearing it, I was thinking about selling a it. The Omega-Forum-Intellegensia suggested I just wear it a few more weeks - Now I'd never part with it.

I'm a speedmaster devotee - love the watch for 20 years, but most days, I tend to wear a diver. Like others, my advice is : Wear the watch a few months. It's amazing. It is as close to a GADA watch as exists and is a real looker to boot.My guess is a watch like that will become part of you, quickly. If you're dissatisifed, then grab a speedy. But you'll be a lot more certain.
