I'm on the fence.

That photo has all the markers on the subdial lining up. The print looks much better (more even) here too. What I'm still not convinced by is the length of the 5 and 11 marks and the spots on the 11 and 10 markers. To be clear, I'm focusing totally on the subdial. I'm edging towards it being good and these issues caused by distortions in the glass.

All that said, I have gone back to the image of the uncased dial and my concerns vanish (with regard to the subdial). There are definitely scratches and distortions in the glass - look at the top of the dial (and the 12) in the last photo compared to earlier ones.

I'm still not entirely sure about the "Swiss Made" . That uncased image doesn't let me zoom in and keep the detail.

To summarise, I'm more than 70% towards the dial being original and the concerns expressed earlier by myself and others being down to the glass. I think the only way to be sure is to get it in hand.

That’s great, thank you for taking the time to study the photos and for your help. Nice people on the forum 👍

I still struggle to see the marking in the subdial but can see that the markers do line up in the latest picture - but then I guess that’s why I’ve come for your advice on here!

Looks good to me, except the second hand which is too long - as said above. Not sure about the crown.

The condition seems excellent. I have rarely seen a 26,5 in that condition. Very nice movement indeed.

Given the condition of the movement and considering the comprehensive opionions and advice from here, and the decent price, I went for it.

I was umming and ahing and swaying both ways but thought, hey I like the look of it and I’ll either get a nice original for a good price or a decent redial for not a bank breaking amount.

Thanks again - if people are interested, I’ll post a picture or 2 when it arrives and try to solve the problem. Cheers.

So guys, the watch arrived and it looks lovely. Really clean dial, crisp case and it looks good on the inside too.

Tbh I’m still on the fence on the redial front, im pretty certain the logo is on the wonk, but actually I don’t mind - I will wear it and enjoy it.

Thanks for all the input previously and here are some pictures to enjoy.

Cheers.

The movement is in very good cosmetic condition, but I can see dust or filaments in it, and the hairspring is not correctly centered. So a service seems in order. It is a nice watch, it deserves care!

Yea, it’s on the list. Have an old Seamaster that needs servicing first, then when I’ve got a bit more spare cash. I’ll make sure I look after it.

Dear all, thanks again for your previous help with the purchase of this watch.

Unfortunately, I looked at my wrist this morning and the crown has come of, unscrewed not snapped, and is either at home or work or somewhere in between - I think I can probably write it off as missing.

Its a bit of a stab in the dark but would anybody be able to direct me towards a replacement crown and how I would obtain one? I've not seen a similar case (28mm) when searching around but have attached my best pictures I have of the crown (given its slightly golden colour, I wonder if it was a replacement in the first place given the SS case and furniture).

Regards, Hamish.

I’ve had a look back and the case number is 2212/1. It would appear there’s a handful out there, google anyway, but no clear pictures of their crowns. Could anyone suggest a period correct crown that would fit this style of case - even if the original can’t be identified? Thank you.

IMO this watch needs an unmarked (smooth) SS crown, very slightly domed - you can use any you can find in the right diameter - I would say around 5 mm...

Lovely, thank you. I hadn’t realised watches from this time / military didn’t have the Omega logo on the crowns.

Just one last one; do the stems vary in diameter? If so is there a specific size of crown for the 26.5 T3 that would fit or just one size fits all?

Yes, stems vary in size from caliber to caliber, caliber 26.5 should be a 1.10mm diameter or tap 8.
