The Swiss willingly sold or gave away the technology to make these watches to the Chinese and Russians after WWII up until the 1980’s.

If I had to guess, it's because it is one of the few commonly available Chinese watches available that isn't trying to emulate another watch.

I just get upset with a Euro-centric view of the watch world. I have nothing against a $1,000 Chinese made tourbillion, just so long there is no expectation that it is finished as nicely as a $100,000 Swiss model.
You get what you pay for. At least the Chinese watch companies are honest about that.
