Macro lens for mobile device

When I got into watches it didn’t strike me that photography would be a big part of it. I now realise that good quality images are key to the learning process as well as, for some, an aspect of expressing their interest.

As a teenager I was into photography. I mucked around in dark rooms, that sort of thing, but I’m not very scientific and got lost in the technical aspects of lighting and exposure.

I’ve not wanted to buy expensive kit to support my watch hobby but thought I’d spend a very small amount on a macro lens for my oldish iPhone. I must say it’s not too bad.

Here’s the el cheapo set I bought on eBay or Amazon. Works just as well (?) on phone or iPad.

I had one of those, but recently donated it to a thrift shop because it wouldn’t work with my new (2 lens) iPhone. Just realizing now as I type this that it would have still worked on my iPad 🤦

Doesn’t the new iPhone (I think the 13) have a macro lens? I think several android models do as well. How well do they work for those who have them?

some nice results with those kits. I had no faith in them, I thought that using a loupe and a bit of practice something like that could be achieved. but I m gladly surprised! and I also don t understand why iphone has zero consideration with macro pics

it appears the 13 has a macro lens. I’m pretty sure the google phone has one. I have no clue how good it is I have a 12.

I just remembered i have one of these kits hiding in a shelf somewhere! I think i bought it off ebay probably 7-8 years ago when phone cameras were just starting to become adequate. I wonder how much one can macro on top of a macro

Those cheap macro attachments work adequately, although (unsurprisingly) there is a fair amount of spherical aberration.
