Lug repair for fathers watch

Logically, to make it wearable, you'll have to have the lug replaced, therefore that would seem to be the only option. How this is to be achieved is the main question. Either a donor case or laser welding alters the "originality" as does the replacement of any parts.

Do you want to keep or sell it? If you are keeping it, then the test is would you be happy to see it on your wrist with a well replaced lug? If selling, then the cost of the repair may well be economically unviable.

Why does replacing a component in a watch movement not count as spoiling the originality of a watch when it returns it to service? Why is replacing a missing lug so the watch can be returned to service, considered spoiling the originality of a watch. I am certain the OP has been offered so many opinions on this topic that he really has NO IDEA what to do! You obviously love the watch. Fix it and wear it with pleasure. Fixing the original case leaves you with a watch that is much closer to original than it would be if you replaced the case!

I I finally got the watch open. Not sure if the numbers on the case help putting a date to the watch

27,1XXM dates the movement in the '68/'69 date range
you can try typing the case number into the Omega Vintage Data Base to get more information

That is a Ross case made in the US. The dial looks so good you must just fix the case on this watch . If replace the case "That rimmed"? You must find a Ross case .
