Hey smart watch people. I am on the hunt for a vintage omega seamaster. The following caught my eye on the net and am looking for feedback. The crown looks to be wrong and perhaps the caseback, but am looking for smarter, more experience people to weigh in.

Any help would me tremendously appreciated

Looks like a redial 2767 with a movement in fairly grotty shape. If you want pretty, this is that, if you want original and collectible, it is not.

I would be more concerned about the dial, not to mention the movement that looks like one would need a tetanus shot to work on it.

It has a service dial and the movement has some staining, which doesn't necessarily mean that there are issues. Also has an incorrect crown.

Need to know the price and the purpose, whether daily wear or collecting.

I would pass for all of the foregoing reasons. Hang around OF, educate yourself on evaluating vintage watches, ask questions, and periodically check the private watch sales forum on OF for something that appeals to you. It’s a lot safer than trolling the internet.

I have it on me currently and can check stuff on it if you so wish. Think the posted example has been polished quite a bit and the dial is iffy, I've been searching for a bumper for quite some time and did a few wrong choices during that time. Only solid advice i can give is do not rush.

Redial as others have said. Also, the movement has seen water at some point as there's plenty of rust evidence remaining, and a whole whack of the movement plating is gone...pass...

You don't think service dial? Any hints on how to differentiate?

There are a number of tells on this one, but the sub-dial is the thing that immediately jumped out at me.

That was the part I was most unsure about, whether service dials always included that.

I believe also the second markers look a bit off: too big, too rough (specially compared to the super nice example above from @Aquariusmatic ) and there is something behind the 12.

My call earlier in the thread was for a number of reasons. Firstly the pearly white lume vs the blackened hands suggested work. Next the thickness of the text and markers used doesn't look up to Omega's standard but what sealed it for me and suggested redial rather than replacement, was the way the sunburst finish seems to flow over the subdial. That would have radial rings on the original and I believe service dials too, or be plain, but never have a finish radiating from the dial centre like here. Add to that the lack of Swiss Made and you have a so-so redial.
