Looking for a crystal: Seamaster ref 2846

I picked up a nice Seamaster from the forum a while back, but due to floating specs on the dial I have yet to wear it 🙁
After talking to the seller briefly I was kindly pointed to a crystal lift. Unfortunately, I did not consider the tension ring. Consequently the crystal is now in 2 pieces... but rest assured the specs are gone!

But now I need a new crystal. Would prefer an omega signed crystal but quite frankly just want this watch sealed again. I have checked ebay and cousins, but can't seem to land anything based off the reference number.

This is the watch:

It's just a few more quids if you end up with it and likely just a one off purchase so it's not gonna be significant in the long term.

The prices of some crystals on eBay are a bit optimistic to say the least LOL.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I would have agreed with you, but things have changed. That Cousins crystal is a bargain, and if they would allow you to buy more than 1 of each part at a time, I would stock up from there even though I can buy direct from Omega. I suspect when Cousins realizes they are selling them way below market value, they will jack the prices up.

Acrylic crystals that I purchase directly from Omega have recently increased in price overnight by 260% I have expressed my displeasure with such dramatic and unpredictable price increases with Omega directly, which if course fell on deaf ears. They did the same thing with dials earlier this year, except that was a 290%+ increase. I don't replace many dials, but I do replace a ton of acrylic crystals - the price went from being pretty insignificant to being a fairly major expense in the context of a service.

Just waiting and wondering what the next items will be that they nearly triple the price of overnight.

Cheers, Al

+1 Archer,
Just talked to a colleague from Omega today and he told me exacly the same thing. 90 euros for a simple seamsater crystal. I orderd some stuf at Omega before it goes totally insame, 50 euros for a 562 setting lever srping..
Grab it at cousins.

Thanks @TNTwatch - I was able to purchase it and get an Omega buckle for less than the Ebay price.

Looks like I bought at the right time @Archer - being a commoner that doesn’t need too many replacement parts means I won’t necessarily feel the hit of more expensive parts (until a service 😵‍💫). It’s really too bad they cut the trickle of parts. Certainly hurts the collecting community, guess they want us to buy new watches and only get them fixed through their service centers?

Hi WYO, I have to pass a big order, do you want me to order it for you and send it back? Because you are going to pay 16 pounds for shipping. What do I earn? Nothing except your many thanks 😁

I appreciate it - but I already made the purchase. Next time I need something I will see if you’re ordering again 👍
