Wow that is a beaut! May i ask what size the case is?
sure, it's stated as oversize for its age at 37mm.

After years of searching I've finally found a jumbo (37.5mm) bariletto case Longines. I wish I could say the quest has ended, but it must continue, this time for a dial. Which won't exactly be easy, but I'm confident and more importantly patient

A beautiful watch! @valjoux72 : Maybe the Nomos watches have some more relatives. There is a little watch company in Germany called Stowa. Scroll down their page https://www.stowa.de/Antea/ and you will find some more mothers and grandmothers of the Nomos Tangente .There are pictures from a Lange watch and from a Stowa Antea watch, both from 1937. Both look very much like today's Nomos watches. Maybe Nomos copied their Tangente-design from those watches...
As a summary it could be said that there were at least three companies (Longines, Stowa and Lange) which sold watches in "cassa barilletto"-design in the 1930s and 1940s. It would be interesting to know which company created this design at first. If someone here has a Longines "cassa barilletto" made before 1937 please let us know.
Very interesting indeed to see a Lange with this case design.

Btw, wir sind mehr als Du denkst.馃槈

I would have bought it, too! I like the somehow petrified impression of the dial and wouldn't replace it. Could you please tell us the year of production if known...?

Herzlich willkommen @SangamoSpecial - what a nice watch! Dieses Forum ist in seiner Zusammensetzung sehr international - auch wenn wir den Australiern f眉r die Bereitstellung sehr dankbar sind, und es wird nat眉rlich zum Wohle aller auf Englisch durchgef眉hrt. 馃榾

Thanks 馃榾 It's a 1941 make. Oh trust me, the state of the dial won't hold me back from wearing the watch, until one in a better state is found. I'm the kinda guy who appreciates a little (or much, for that matter) wabi 馃榿

My contribution to this thread is a reference 5581, oversized 37mm sector dial. The dial tones alternate from light to dark depending on the viewing angle. Also has fixed lugs, but have had a lovely pigskin strap custom made for it from The Strap Tailor. Pretty magic watch. Still looking for a correct hour hand though! If any one has a good source let me know!

I refer to this by Longines model / reference number 4194

or by the calibre 12.68z circa 1953
Very nice, I purchased this from a dealer in Brazil earlier in the year, not sure the dial color is date correct but it was a beautiful watch and for what I paid for it well worth it
