hey OF,

I've come across this Grand Prize and I would like your opinion. The case and hands look to be correct see - https://omegaforums.net/threads/excellent-1966-longines-grand-prize-automatic-ref-2579-343.177834/

However I have only seen this dial on the Conquest series. The font for "Grand Prize" looks correct to me. Am worried as it looks like water damage between 12 and 3. A movement picture has been requested, but as the watch is sold as a "project" by a private seller I doubt it will be provided. Current offer is €261.

Thanks for your input and insights!

I love that dial, my old Conquest had that dial with the date at 12:00. I also don't know if the Grand Prize originally had that dial.

To me, it looks okay, but I am not an expert on vintage Longines dials. The print looks pretty consistent and, if it is a redial, I think I could live with it. I don't know if it is water damage you are seeing or just the clear coat of protective enamel coming off the dial. I had a silver Kon Tiki dial that had that happen and it looked very much like this.

At that price I would likely take the gamble, depending on what the movement looks like.

Got a picture of the movement, its a 343 so should be correct. Rotor fell off... but will be provided. Overall I think its too much hassle as its an US based watch. Shipping, fees, services/repair etc..

Its still up for grabs on Chrono24.
