Hi everyone,

I'm looking at this watch on ebay at the moment, and I was wondering if I could have some feedback on it.

Asking price is $450
Thoughts?

Many thanks,
Scott.

With a movement service it’s a $750+ watch.
Condition is key
If you like it buy it.

"Calatrava" as a descriptor for any watch other than specific Patek Philippe references is marketing fluff at best. Nothing wrong with the watch you've posted - case and dial condition are far from a top example, and others may comment on the dial itself as original - not my area of expertise. What I can tell you is that is most certainly not a "military dial" as described by the seller. It's a 30mm case, so very small by current standards. Given all of the above - Price is high IMO for an example in this condition, and especially factoring in the probable need for a service and the $30 shipping cost (from Argentina).

For a very small snap-back Longines with an iffy-looking dial?

Honestly. You would have to water board me to part with $100 for that.

Average case with lug repair (5th image, top left lug), poor dial in a 30 mm sized case.

Can't even give those away anymore due to size

Major pass

For that money you can buy just about any non-gold Longines on offer on eBay or elsewhere. Conquests, Admirals et al. And hand winds for significantly less.

As for gold, this 284 movement, 9ct was £300, with a warranty, on Portobello Road eight months ago, and I’m sure many OF members have done better for less.

So, see what else Longines has to offer.

Just pass on it. Find a better one. Plenty of watches out there

Strange...that logo has been used in the 20s, while the watch can be dated to the late 30s

Thanks Verdi, I'll take your advice, and everyone else, and keep looking. 😀
