May I please get your thoughts on this Omega Constellation Pie Pan with "Tropical" dial as the seller has listed?

The price is going up on it and wondered what would be a fair price and if it all looks ok.

I can't decide if I like the tropical effect or .. well you know

Well, it's going to need a service, like it or not - rotor has been rubbing on the caseback and gasket is more or less goo.

No hard estimates, however black dial + Constellation + Pie Pan = four figures at least. The tropical may or may not make a difference to price.

Personally I like the look, very eye-catching and unusual. OK, it seems ridiculous to pay extra for what are essentially damaged dials, but they are unique. It's remarkable how well-preserved the printing is given the overall state of the dial. And the case is nice and sharp. I think it will go pretty high. It's hard enough to find an ordinary black dial that hasn't been refinished, so I can see several bidders fighting over this one. I'd guess it will go for at least $1,500, but I've been known to be wrong. ;-)

Just a side note: I'm looking at everyone's "avatar" who replied here, has the animal photo. A complete zoo :)

    I’ll add to it.

This is a very nice watch, movement condition aside. You can almost shave with the case. It is that sharp.

This will go for $1,200. Maybe more if there is a bidding war.

I saw the listing and the ‘tropical’ dial comment made me laugh.
It’s meant to be a dress-watch, so thankfully there is no premium (yet) for tropical (damaged) dials in the Connie market - they still detract from the value versus a good example.
However, it is a black pie-pan and as the fonts are still intact it has a pleasing overall effect, if you like that type of thing - each to their own.

The watch is a round case .010 (which I happen to like) that is less desirable than earlier case styles.
Case is in pretty good condition.
Replacement crown and crystal, so it’s seen work at some point in its life.
T-Swiss Made-T is partially obscured on the dial - so probably hidden by an incorrect crystal ring.
Difficult to tell if all of the lume is intact on the indices
The movt has quite serious rotor rub and the inside of the case is absolutely filthy - so an immediate service would be in order.
    Omega buckle is a bonus.

In good condition it might have reached £1,500, in this condition I wouldn’t expect it to top the £1,000 mark.

(and yet another animal avatar :))

Kudos for everyone being willing to put their predictions (and reasoning) out there. I don't know if it's helpful for the OP, but it's fun to read.

And thanks to the seller for listing it as a no-reserve auction. We wouldn't get nearly this amount of entertainment and suspense from a BIN listing. :)

Very unique dial; almost looking like granite.

BTW, add one more animal to the list...

Just because. Plus, I thought she coordinated well with the dial. ;) Now back to regular programming.

It is a galvano sandwich dial - so it is a perfect candidate for washing.

Once the rotten clear lacquer is removed the dial will look as new.

Experienced collectors may have this in mind and voila the price is climbing.

    just my 2 cents

Yes, you are right - I did not notice it - need to get new glasses ::facepalm2::

So it would still be possible to wash it but with much more caution - and risk...

Not for me. I simply don't like dials that are 'kaputt' as they say in Bavaria. I also always wonder what happened to the movement if a dial looks like this.. based on your images, the movement clearly needs an overhaul. I am not sure, as I can't determine this from the image, but it appears as if the rotor has been damaged as well by scraping against the caseback.

Some collectors might like the 'patina' as shown on this watch, but I prefer looking at a dial that is a bit more attractive and better conserved.
