As far as I can tell, it was a pilots watch. There were versions that were issued of which few survive in original condition but this one was the civil version available in the United Kingdom - this is consistent with the 9kt gold case and the extract from the archives. I haven't seen any other Longines tank watches with central seconds from this period. I will let other more knowledgeable members comment on this.
The watch has been serviced by Kelly Hunter - returned on the 1st of September 2021. He has restored the alternating polished and matte surfaces as they would have originally been.
Case: The case is 22 x 37mm including the lugs. It is 9kt and stamped as such. The model number is 3640. In the last service, the case has been very lightly polished including matte on the faceted service on the sided. Kelly indicated that this was how it was originally and restored it as such.
Crystal: The crystal was replaced in the recent service.
Movement: The movement has been serviced and runs well (I love listening to it tick away).
Dial and Hands: The dial is has an Art Deco appearance including arabic numerals on the evens including a red 12. It is silvered in such a way that it appears two tone depending on the light - this can be observed in some of the pictures. There is some spotting on the dial as can be observed in the pictures. I believe that hands to be original.
Crown: I am not sure if the crown is original
Strap: The strap is leather and is not original (neither is the buckle). The new owner may choose to change the strap to a color of their choice.
I am not sure on how to price this considering the rarity but also the condition.
Price: 650 USD (or best reasonable offer) including shipping to the Continental US with FedEx (or USPS registered). The watch is in Los Angeles.
