This thread set me wondering how solid the demand for the Ultraman really is. Theoretically, the watches were all booked within 25-30 minutes I was told. We will know soon...
Booked yes, but ready to bet at least a third is flippers. Everyone of them looks for the next Snoopy.

where is that ck2998? that's very surprising to see and more surprising to see it priced under retail.

Hi @gixxer47,

Do you mean where there still is an CK2998 available at RRP (or below?); I mentioned Oberhausen (Germany) earlier if that answers your question?

A couple CK2998s have been for sale this past month. One that sold was close around $5500 USD I believe. I do not think it was 'unworn', but it was in very good condition. At $5500 they seem to take a while to sell.

Are we talking about the same CK 2998? The blue one? That was available pretty much straight away at around or below RRP, it was never hugely hard to get. It was more FOIS than Snoopy in value terms. The latest Pulsometer one seems more in demand but I wouldn’t pay big overs on that one personally either.

In the $5000+ range anything over 1000 units isn’t really limited as far as I’m concerned

I’m pretty interested in the ck2998 pulsometer...surprised that it seems readily available, especially given the hype over it when it was announced...

The echo chamber of social media very rarely matches reality - throw in forum hype, and hype from journalists/bloggers on free trips...

CK2998 Pulsometer was still in the AD window last week when I visited Haarlem in the Netherlands.

I also find it strange-when i was in portugal this summer one of each of 57 rail, sea and speedmaster was readily available from a seller. When i got my speedy i was described as a very lucky man i got it because it was booked many times over, after that i have seen in multipel places. Fully booked and sold many times over seems to mean something else to omega😒
Was that seller in Portugal an AD or Omega Boutique? He could've also been a grey market dealer/second hand dealer with a shop??
in response to that, it sort of has a different meaning with Omega. For one, boutiques and AD's are not count as one. Secondly, OB's operate in different markets. Meaning that if a OB in the US says it is sold out, the US allocation is sold out but may not mean that the Japan market allocation is sold out. And of course as most should know, if an AD allocation is counted separately too. oh, even Omega website is another separate inventory.....
So to sum it up, if you got a 57 Speedmaster from an Omega Boutique in the US, you were lucky cause it did sell out and there was a waiting list. I was on the upper part of that list and I got one after people cancelled their deposits. So I consider myself lucky and very happy to own that piece.

If theres still stock available in an OB or an AD somewhere in the world, then by definition, a watch is not sold out.

No matter how a local OB or AD that doesn’t have, or cannot get access to that stock want to spin it. 😉

The "allocation" can be sold out.... but I understand what you are saying and why people get all sour about a topic like this. I guess the proper term for them to use regarding allocations being 100% spoken for would be "unavailable"

OBs (and multi-branch ADs) will happily transfer a watch in their inventory from one store to another if they don't have one on hand. That's how I got my Seamaster 300. In terms of country-to-country, that may take a while longer but I think if you continue to speak to your OB about it, they may eventually bring it in.

“Well we sold the 5 we had, so the watch is sold out”

‘So... those watches over there?’

“Oh, don’t worry about those watches, we’re all sold out. Aren’t you super glad you got yours? You’re so lucky! All sold out!”

‘But those watches... there sure seem to be a lot easily available, in other OBs and ADs.’

“SOLD OUT. SUPER LIMITED EDITION. RARE.”

👎

The watch industry relies on smoke and mirrors, and the whole “we can’t get more” sales technique really gets up my nose.

When there’s still stock somewhere in an OB or an AD, a watch isn’t sold out. 👍

Even if sometimes you gotta go spelunking in some OB's safe to find, like some of those Alaska Projects and 50th Anniversary Speedmasters

There’s a ton of stuff tucked away in Little neon alone that’s supposedly “sold out”.

Amazing what they can find when you ask. 👍
