The last post on this thread was in June?!?!

Just wanted to share a Tri Compax I recently got. Rose Gold 37.5mm thanks to the step down case.

Yes. Why not?

I love the radial orientation, font, and delicate touch of the numerals in the subdials of our examples.

Mine, too, a 37mm cal 287 with a moon face.

A little escape from the Philly snowscape to FL’s sunshine does wonders for the mind…and the wrist. Exotic Nina 885108, blue variant.

Thanks, it looks like nubuck in the picture, however, it's actually regular alligator.

Well, time to punch this fantastic thread up again! Here’s my latest Universal Geneve Tri-Compax, the (very) rarely seen reference 181102. Dating to around 1970, it’s the last of the great Tri’s from UG’s golden era, in solid 18k yellow gold and a whopping 38mm Spillman case. This particular example has been seen here on OF (about a decade ago, I believe) before it landed in the collection of a well-known UG collector in NYC. He recently decided to let it go to me, and “keep it in the UG family” for which I’m deeply appreciative. After some TLC at the watchmaker, I’m thrilled to have it on my wrist, and in my collection. There’s also a quick video on my “highlights” of instagram (also @MarktheTime ) for anyone who wants to see it. Viva UG!

Admittedly more than a little blessed (and lucky) to have each of these, but still amazing to see the evolution of the Tri-Compax over decades, here from circa 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Viva UG!

So this just happened, and after last month’s post/acquisition, I swear it came out of complete left field. I got a totally unexpected message on Instagram inquiring about my potential interest in this grey slate dial “Exotic” Tri-Compax (reference 881101/03 ). “Um, YES PLEASE!!” I don’t think I’ve ever said this about any piece in my collection before - but its condition is as close to mint as any example I’ve ever seen of this reference. In fact, it’s heading straight to the spa for some TLC, since the seller/watchmaker in Idaho (!!) who reached out to me said he suspects it has never been serviced…and perhaps never even OPENED…in 50+ years. No toolmarks are evident on the pristine movement. Reference and serial numbers are clearly etched into the case back. The crystal is signed. The crown is correct, the dial and bezel are impeccable, and the case sparkles. And in the coming weeks, yes, it will be mounted onto a UG-signed Gay Freres bracelet. My new best friend in Idaho apparently was helping the nephew of its original owner who recently inherited it and wanted to monetize what he knew was a special piece. I couldn’t be more appreciative and excited that he thought of me, and found me worthy of being its next caretaker. Viva UG! 😀
