These are all amazing. Looking to hop on the bandwagon soon myself! Question for any/all, is it rare/legit for the top moonphase subdial to not have a circle around it or be depressed? I only noticed one example like this of the bunch posted on this thread.

It is. Later models like the one from @aap have no circle. The early models usually have.

Thanks, that's useful. I was looking at the first one of the group posted by Larry S that seems to be of a 1940s vintage and has no circle. So i am mostly curious if that is sometimes the case even in the older models.

The one from Larry is most probably 50ies, as the moon has no face.

Actually no ... The case style stayed in the line for quite some time. The SN for the watch you refer to is 1960/61. Also as @Oku said .... No moon face, closed 6's and longer telephony lines.

Oh interesting. The watch I was looking at most definitely has a serial number from the 1940s as well as a face on the moon, but no circle around the days on the moonphase subdial.. I wonder if they stuck a 1960s dial on a 1940s watch then. Would make sense it's a bit of a mash up because it has a signed crown which I can't remember seeing on any 1940s models I've come across online either.

Signed crowns began in the 50's. We need to see a pic.

Nice watch....but....Definitely a later dial. Drilled lugs. Without SN, can’t know what came first. It’s put together for sure. All UG parts though so that saves it’s value somewhat. Biggest drag on value imo is the case work.
