For anyone that’s interested, Lego are about to have the ESA Ulysses space probe set as a VIP points redeemable purchase only for 1800 points:

At the same time its double VIP points right now, so if you buy the Space Shuttle Discovery you’ll get ~2600 points and be able to get the Ulysses probe as a free bonus with VIP points to spare.

Which I shall be doing shortly 😀

They look incredible cool. I see the discovery has 2,354 pieces. How long would it take to put something like that together. I’ve been “toying” with the idea of putting one of those wooden model boats together. Well either way I hope you put up a picture when it’s together.

Its probably in the order of 6–9 hours depending on how good you are at it, the Millennium Falcon was about 24-30 hours total build time and its both difficult and 7500 pieces. Its the kind of thing you dedicate a table to and do a bit each day for a week or so, thats how I tend to go about it at least. A bag tends to be 45 minutes to an hour and is comparable to a small childrens lego set in piece count.

Anybody built yet? I have a few lego technic sets (haven't built - waiting for son to grow up and build). Thinking whether I should get this one.

Did not start building yet. Figure it will be ~ 8 hours of work depending on how much my son 'helps'. Usually once I get started I like to work through until the end, which means this is a project for a Saturday or Sunday.

Yea theres actually a few sets you can buy during double VIP points and even sell on at a profit factoring in the value of the points, I tend to wait until it happens and only stock up then.

Also please note that to redeem the satellite you get a code to use on your next order in the next 30 days...

Just so everyone else knows how it works.

Also, I will not buy the new 911 kit... I will not buy the new 911 kit...

Not sure about other regions but the UK site had various issues and by the time it stabilised they were sold out for most. Some in my other forum got them but most missed out. Hardly surprising but still disappointing. Of course there are plenty for sky high prices on Fleabay already.
