Firstly - apologies for another Speedmaster thread. I'm currently looking for a birth year Speedmaster, and stumbled across this today: http://www.chrono24.co.uk/omega/spe...uttle-mission-1981-ref-1450039--id5233938.htm Which at first glance looks like an Apollo commemorative watch... but then... the case back. The reference given appears to be for the 1980 onwards sapphire sandwich... but not with this case back. Anyone seen this before?
I was actually looking at this watch last night, as I am looking for a 1980s speedy to finish off my Speedy from all decades collection. I wonder is this is a service replacement case back.
I wondered that too - I guess ideal we get the dealer to take the back off and see what the numbers inside say... but when he last had a price on Chrono24, he was asking £12k for it... way beyond my pocket.
I think this is not an original caseback. Engraving very different from the origina (and where is the A xxx?) and booklet from 1985 while the watch was made in 1982...
I think that there should be less apologies for speedmaster threads. I have also had multiple alcoholic beverages at this point in this very evening. heer heer
I agree! Four run and diet cokes into the evening and wee need more speedMaster and one post wonders. I may sign my cat up so he can ask about his vintage speed master he bought in Malaysia.
