I think the next one on the list after this is Skylab, would be cool to have that to compliment the ISS

You know a few years ago some radio host in California actually raised $400 to pay the littering infringement the Australian town of Esperence issued NASA with for dumping their space station within the town limits.

At the time wasn’t that like 1.3 million AUD?

Well the fine was never paid, so at the normal rate for unpaid fines in Western Australia, NASA now owes us a shitload.

Having said that I once knew someone who went to Esperence for a tennis tournament and she regretted it as two old blokes that were a fixture in the pub basically try to compete with each other in befriending visitors or newcomers to the town purely to convince them that the other bloke is a bastard, and because she chose the wrong one she was harassed by the other bloke and his 3 legged dog the whole week. NASA using it as a skip is probably the best tourist advertisement the place has ever had.

Lego shuttle ordered...
Nice, I’m going to hold off a bit as I’m a bit backlogged with the creator 911, technic Ferrari and a few other miscellaneous sets

I remember in 2012, I was a freshman in high school and my family traveled to LA to watch the Endeavour space shuttle be moved across the city to the museum where it is right now. I remember being in a crowd with a few thousand other people in middle of Los Angeles late at night looking at this space ship being moved past a gas station. it's still one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. When you're up close to it, you realize just how big it is and also how worn it is. the tiles on the exterior looked like they'd been through a lot.

That shuttle looks fantastic! The only thing holding me back is the two kids at home potentially wrecking it although it'll be a great build with the son when he's older.

He has already been eyeing my Marvel Avengers Helicarrier but I've managed to successfully keep it away from him.

Since the Columbia was brought up earlier in the thread, I thought I would mention the video presentation of the Horological Society of New York March 1 presentation of Space Shuttle Columbia Tragedy: A Watch's Story. If you didn't see the live presentation or are not a member, this is one to watch when it gets publicly posted to view in another month or so (https://hs-ny.org/schedule/2021/03/1/space-shuttle-columbia-tragedy-a-watches-story-by-ann-micklos). One positive thing about living in pandemic times is I can watch society meetings live in NY from Alaska (a small compensation to the pandemic suffering).

And the lego shuttle is of course quite cool!

Shame that Columbia is only remembered for the disaster, it had served reliably for about 20 years before that. It's terrible that it was ill-fated but it was such a wonderful machine

And Richard Nixon was the most popular and successful president of the 20th century(fact), except for that one thing....

Absolutely true. Except the Columbia didn't cause its own downfall!

If he hadn't recorded conversations because of his bad hearing, he would not have been politically implicated, which led to his downfall. He was actually a very moral and devout Christian.

Funny you say that, cause it was a suspiciously missing recording that caused much of the issues...

Won’t comment on the latter bit there

I had to order this. The attention to detail is amazing. I almost don't want to open it but I don't think I will be able to resist what looks like a really fun build lol.

Picked one up as well with some Easter freebies. Still waiting for the Ulysses Space Probe VIP reward to become available.
