I’ve been seeing this pop up as a pre-order in some places as well as being discussed on some lego sites for a while now, given this year is the 40th anniversary of the first flight of the space shuttle, STS-1 its rather fitting that the set be of Columbia even if it may be a little controversial.

That's cool! Thanks for mentioning 👍 I am no lego nerd but I do have the Saturn V and the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander and this could be a good addition.
I am wondering how tall the space shuttle will be?

Shame that Columbia is only remembered for the disaster, it had served reliably for about 20 years before that. It's terrible that it was ill-fated but it was such a wonderful machine

I remember as a kid I begged my parents for the Lego technic Space Shuttle but it was too expensive at the time. It had fiber optics in it as well as motorized parts from memory and I would go to the local Mr Toys and look over every side of the box hoping it would be mine one day but alas it never happened.

Now they’re $2000...

Not seen that kit before... unbelievable! Reminds me of the time I turned down a Casino Royale PO for £1,300...meh

I've got that one. It's pretty dirty though. I think I need to disassemble it and clean the bricks. Even still got the original box as well.

Looking forward to the 2021 release though. If it's as cool as the Saturn V I'll get one.

Yes the idea with Hubble is great and I especially like that you can display it unloading the telescope into space!

First I thought the same scale as the Saturn V would have been better but if I understood it correctly they had to make it bigger for Hubble and the details.
I don't have any space besides my Saturn V anyway so bigger is better 😀

Really cool. My nephew is still very into Lego so will probably pick it up for him. Not knowing much about modern lego (other than the plural of Lego is Lego!) is this any sort of limited production that I need to jump on ordering April 1 or is it a mass production piece I can pick up in a month or two?

That’s a great price for a set over 2,000 pieces. Granted the Saturn is 1969 and still $119 but now discontinued so buy you Saturn now.

also I haven’t watched the video yet. Are they really calling it Challanger or Columbia?

I figured Discovery would be the name.
