Agree dial is real, and actually better than many we have seen lately. The funk in the lower right under the 5 would have me concerned- is that funk under the glass (mold) or wear on the dial. Plus, I am seeing wear along the edges and a gap between the dial and the case- is it missing a retaining ring?

Also tell your buddy that this will need about $1k for the service assuming it needs parts that are 321 specific and hard to get- that may be on the high side but I wouldn’t go in without knowing that’s a possibility

All the negative aspects aside, I think it’s a nice looking watch and with a proper service would be a great daily (also that on a period correct BOR and yikes, that’s a looker). But the price would have to be about half to keep my interest considering the unknown once a watchmaker has it apart

Damn, that would be a very nice dial if it weren't for that damage between 5 and 6 🙁 Definitely would have me wondering what the movement looks like.

As I understand it, Omega is once again awash in brand new production 321 parts and watchmakers can get everything again 😉

Lol- yeah, Porsche has tons of 911 parts, I’m sure they are all a bolt on- for an ‘82 SC

I don't know about that, but I've heard the parts are supposed to be identical.

I thought you were being sarcastic. I am curious if they are indeed 1:1, our resident watchmakers will be able to tell us in time

I think for that price the seller would be bursting to show you the movement and dial. It might be a nice watch but that's an ambitious price.

It's also in canada. Fewer examples up here, and there is value in avoiding taxes and duties despite paying less in the usa.

I'm not in the US myself, if that's relevant. People are free to pay as much as they wish for an item they want, but as I said, that's a hefty sum for a watch that may hold some surprises yet. The white-glove foolishness might be rubbing me too much the wrong way, I suppose.
I feel like I've seen much sharper cases derided as overpolished on these forums. The comparison shots @Oku linked to also had pretty smoothly rounded lugs, so what do I know.

Happy to be proven wrong about the dial. Will withhold any hasty verdicts next time.

Hope your friend gets a good deal on the watch. And that the remaining dial and movement questions check out.

These are great pieces.

First is a different case, so lugs are smoother.
Second is the same case and seems unpolished. But I agree that the OP's watch has seen some polishing.

unless it’s the light being funny
It is not the light. There is something not correct at 10 on different pics.

Yes, it looks as though the 10 o’clock marker has been glued or tampered.

Reasonably clean looking 321. Likely needs a service though, I'd assume it does.

It will most definitely require a service - the case back gasket hasn't been changed in years, and any self-respecting watchmaker would change that when they service the movement.
