Legit Planet Ocean?

I'd appreciate some assistance from the Omega community if I may ask. I'm in the market for a titanium Planet Ocean 232.90.42.21.03.001 (or thereabouts). I have been provided with some limited pics by a seller and would appreciate any comments that come to mind.

Hopefully someone else with better eyes and better guess. Can you ask seller which toaster he used to photograph these?

Dial side looks ok to me. Can’t comment on movement. Buy with Amex.

The biggest tell with these is the balance. Get an in focus close up shot of that and you can be sure. From what you have posted it looks ok so far, but I wouldn't send cash based just on those potato pics.

Before I ask favors at my OB, is there a way to confirm the SN?
I see the case and movement match, but I understand certain numbers are associated with reps.

Hmm, looks like the Omega S/N database does not go back that far, so I am unable to verify the S/N to the reference number.

This does not alarm me, but gives me pause just the same

See my post above. We can give you certainty but you need to give us a good in focus pic of the balance. In addition, you clearly have the serial but haven’t posted it. We have a member with extranet access who can help with those but he’s not psychic. That said if an OB can’t get a hit maybe it’s too new for that.

Oh one other thing, in the 2 pics above the caseback is oriented very differently suggesting either it’s not the same watch or has been removed and replaced in between. Just something to consider. It could be a scammer using pics from multiple genuine watches.

My apologies, I thought they were visible in the pics, on case and movement - fuzzy as they are.

In any event - Serial Number: 78990778

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Different watch, according to inscription position.
Be aware
This, first case back photo to second photo. Different positioning for sure.

Completely different location as well. Most sellers take photos in the same 'place' (some well-lit bench they have), so you can often see if someone is posting stolen photos based on the background.

IMO the reddit requirement of "take the thing, and put it on a piece of paper where you have written your name + date" is a great way to weed this out. I've in the past required a "write MY name, today's date, and a drawing of a cow, then roll up that piece of paper and put it in the bracelet, then take a photo of that whole thing in front of your computer screen with this message on it". It SEEMS overkill, but it is a lot of work to do that much photoshop in a way that looks reasonable that scammers will give up. Any reasonable seller will understand.

The text YOU define keeps them from using one they've done before. Making the paper 'round' makes photoshopping it very difficult, as is putting text on it, plus in front of a screen, its all specific enough as to not be worth it to fake.

Great catch, @nicolamilton . I'd be highly wary of dealing with this seller, even if this was a genuine mistake and not a more common switcheroo tactic. Other examples of this ref available!

According to the listing it's a HK dealer and the watch is being sold w/o box or papers. OP mentioned in another thread that this was a C24 listing so at least that checks out.

Could be a legit mistake, but still- one that makes me cautious.

Ha, I just saw that you also pointed it out a couple of posts up. You definitely deserve credit for pointing it out and for just generally being helpful in threads like this, thank you for what you do around here.

So many thanks folks, there are just too many concerns for me to consider this any further.

The caseback is a slam dunk in my view. If that weren't enough - just overnight the seller refused to provide any more pics of the movement.
Claimed it didn't know what the balance was, and then complained the pics were good enough and no more would be provided.

I'm certainly not buying the seller, or the watch, and am moving on.

You have saved me a lot of drama, sincerely grateful for your help.

I was just about to post - case closed surely ? but I see you have already decided not to go ahead - which seems hugely sensible - well done the forum !

Anyway, here is a picture of a Planet Ocean that is not for sale ! (mine !) 😉

Good luck with your hunting...
