Question about Planet Ocean with gold faded bezel

Hi all!

A friend bought this old Planet Ocean (2209.50) at an auction the other day, and out of curiosity I was wondering about the color of the bezel. From what I know It should be orange, but this looks more like faded gold. Was there ever a version with this color, or is It that the orange bezel just has been exposed to sun, saltwater and life in general for almost 20 years and has faded over time? Tried searching Google for it but didn't find much at all.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
